  • Patent number: 8594046
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of performing an intra-segment handover (HO) of a mobile station (MS) from a source access point (AP1) of a tree-structured segment (S1) of an Ethernet-compliant telecommunication network to a target access point (AP2) of said segment (S1), as well as a switch (SW-123) to support the execution of this method. After establishing contact between the mobile station (MS) and the target access point (AP2), the mobile station (MS) sends an update entry request addressed to the segment gateway switch (GW). The update entry request is received by a switch (SW-123) positioned in the tree structure of the segment (S1) hierarchically above the source and target access points (AP1, AP2) and below the segment gateway switch (GW). The switch (SW-123) checks whether its forwarding database contains a first entry comprising an address of the mobile station (MS) received by means of the update entry request.

  • Publication number: 20110317656
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for transmitting—from all cells belonging to a cluster (e.g., for Joint Processing/Transmission (JP/T) Coordinated Multipoint (CoMP), also referred to as network MIMO (Multiple Input/Multiple Output))—reference signals (RSs) for channel state information (CSI) feedback to user equipment (UE) at the same time and frequency resources. In this manner, data is precluded from interfering with the CSI feedback scheme. Consequently, data need not be determined to reliably estimate the channel(s).

  • Publication number: 20060221933
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for performing resource management of one or more Internet Protocol based resources to route a plurality of packets. To ensure a relatively high end-to-end service quality, the method and apparatus defines one or more user-service specific metrics being utilized by Internet Protocol (IP) mechanisms on a network layer to provide an IP-based resource management in a next generation network. A wireless router may provide wireless radio access using a resource management that captures one or more properties of at least one network link and at least one wireless link as metrics that may be used by IP mechanisms. Based on metric related distributed information, each router including a wireless router and an IP router may determine whether or not to forward a packet on an associated wireless link or a network link.

  • Publication number: 20060166677
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for allocating frequency bands associated with a multi-band network across a first and a second cell in a communications system. The method comprises determining a load parameter associated with the first and second cells in the communications system, selecting a target cell among the first and second cells for a mobile wireless device for transferring the mobile wireless device from a first frequency band to a second frequency band based on the load parameter of the first and second cells. In one embodiment, selection of an appropriate frequency band may be realized for a mobile wireless device in a multi-band network based on measurements of pilot channel properties and a load parameter to take into account a cell load of a target set of cells for an inter-frequency handover.
