  • Publication number: 20200197860
Abstract: A method of separating fluidic water from impure fluids is disclosed. The impure fluids comprising fluidic water and one or more substances having a kinetic diameter similar to that of water molecules. The kinetic diameter of the one or more substances is at most 50% and preferably 33% greater than that of the water molecules. The method comprises applying to a first side of a carbon nanomembrane the impure fluid; and collecting from the opposite of the carbon nanomembrane the fluidic water. The method can be used in filter applications.

  • Patent number: 8377243
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transferring a nano-layer (1) from a first substrate (5, 105) to a second substrate (30, 130), wherein the nano-layer (1) comprises a self-aggregating monolayer with cross-linked phenyl units and/or a mono-atomic graphite layer (graphene), wherein the method comprises the following steps: a. applying a transfer medium (20, 120) onto nano-layer (1), wherein in this step or afterwards the transfer medium (20, 120) is transformed from a liquid or gaseous phase in a solid phase; b. separating the transfer medium (20, 120) and the nano-layer (1) from the first substrate (5, 105); and c. applying the transfer medium (20, 120) and the nano-layer (1) onto the second substrate (30, 130); and d. removing the transfer medium (20, 120).

  • Patent number: 6764758
Abstract: The invention relates to a surface-modified layer systems, a method for the production and use thereof. The invention in particular relates to surface-modified layer systems, comprising a substrate and a mono-layer at least partially arranged on said substrate. Said mono-layer is cross-linked in the lateral direction and covalently bonded by anchor groups to at least one surface of said substrate. Said mono-layer is also composed of low molecular weight aromatic and/or heteroaromatic compounds. The mono-layer which is cross-linked in the lateral direction is composed of low molecular weight aromatic and/or heteroaromatic compounds and is integral with the surface-modified layer system, and exhibiting the characteristics of a cross-linked solid. Said mono-layer protects the surfaces of the corresponding substrate from damage caused by friction and corrosion in a particularly advantageous manner.
