  • Publication number: 20080197683
Abstract: The invention relates to a motor vehicle with rear seats (3), the seat bench (5) and backrests (6) of which may be placed in a first position in which passengers sit in the direction of travel and into a second position in which the load area of the luggage compartment (4) is increased. The seat bench (5) and the backrests (6) may each be pivoted about a horizontal pivot axis (7, 7?) for adjustment from the first to the second position, whereby locking devices (10) are provided on at least the backrests (6), which fix the backrests (6) to the position when locked. According to the invention, a controller (13) is provided which forcibly couples the locking devices (10) for the backrests (6) to the position of the seat bench (5), such that the backrests (6) can only be adjusted from the first position to the second position thereof, when the seat bench (5) is in the second position thereof.

  • Patent number: 6375264
Abstract: A backrest for a vehicle seat, in particular a rear seat, has a head restraint which can be pivoted away from an approximately vertical operative position into an approximately horizontal inoperative position on the rear side of the backrest. The head restraint has a head cushion and at least one supporting rod which holds the head cushion and passes through a slot cutout in the backrest and is fixed to a pivoting shaft arranged in the backrest. In order to avoid openings on the upper side of the backrest for the passage of the supporting rod, the slot cutout is arranged in a rear wall of the backrest, and the supporting rod is designed in such a manner that it emerges out of the head cushion towards the rear side of the backrest with a curved rod section running concentrically to the pivoting shaft, and extends as far as the pivoting shaft with a straight rod section which is angled off at the end of the curved rod section.

  • Patent number: 5593200
Abstract: Backrests of a rear seat bench for an estate car which are asymmetrically divided in two can experience pronounced bending in the travel direction in the larger backrest part in the event of frontal impact. This bending can endanger the safety of people sitting on the rear seat bench. To prevent this, one energy absorber is arranged in the region of the at least two closure arrangements, between the frame of the larger backrest part and the housing profile.
