  • Patent number: 11597256
Abstract: A heating system for a vehicle is provided. In order to permit provision of efficient heating of a vehicle window pane of an electric vehicle, the system has two at least mainly transparent panes, wherein an outer pane is arranged on the outside of the vehicle and an inner pane is arranged on the inside of the outer pane to form an intermediate space, and at least one controllable infrared source is configured to irradiate infrared radiation into the intermediate space so that the infrared radiation at least partially irradiates the outer pane.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 7, 2023
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
    Inventor: Armin Litz
  • Patent number: 11358440
Abstract: A heating system for a windshield of a vehicle, in which a fan unit is configured to produce a hot air flow at the inner side of the windshield. In order to enable efficient heating of a windshield of an electric vehicle, there is provision for the heating system to have an at least predominantly transparent partition unit, which in a shielding position is secured in the vehicle in such a manner that it is arranged in the longitudinal vehicle direction between at least a predominant portion of the windshield and an inner region which is provided for passengers, whereby the hot air flow can be guided at least partially in a heating region between the windshield and the partition unit.

  • Publication number: 20200076029
Abstract: An electric vehicle and method for controlling an electric vehicle such as a bus include climate control of a traction or drive battery and using thermal mass or capacity of the traction battery for climate control of the vehicle cabin. The drive battery is double insulated with respect to the surroundings and kept within a desired temperature range by means of a temperature control including a cooling medium flowing around the battery. An electrical heating system for the cooling medium, an electrical compressor, and an evaporator/condenser for the cooling medium are controlled by a control system. A climate control for the passenger compartment is coupled to the temperature control by way of a heat exchanger to be supplied with heat or cold from the battery or its cooling medium.
