  • Patent number: 11568685
Abstract: The disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for calibrating a handheld device used for controlling a partially autonomous vehicle. An example method to calibrate the handheld device may include entering a remote-control command into the handheld device for controlling a first action performed by the partially autonomous vehicle. A time-delay associated with one or more operations executed in the handheld device in response to entering the remote-control command are then measured. The time-delay is conveyed to a cloud computing device, which evaluates the time-delay and returns a diagnostic result to the handheld device. Evaluation of the time-delay by the cloud computing device may be carried out by comparing the time-delay in the handheld device to time-delay values obtained via crowdsourcing from other handheld devices. The diagnostic result provided by the cloud computing device may be used by the handheld device for calibration purposes.

  • Patent number: 8095291
Abstract: The invention relates to a control device for a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine and a stop/start device, and to a method for controlling the operation of an internal combustion engine in such a motor vehicle, wherein the stop/start device is designed to switch off the internal combustion automatically when at least one stop condition is met, wherein the switching off of the internal combustion engine when the stop condition is present does not take place until after a switch off delay time has passed. The control device is designed to prevent, in reaction to a first voice command, the automatic switching off of the internal combustion engine for a predefined time period and/or until a predefined vehicle operating state criterion has been fulfilled irrespective of whether or not the stop condition was already met at the time when the voice command was issued.

  • Publication number: 20080189454
Abstract: A device for data transmission for a motor vehicle is presented, which has sensors used for generating data. The sensors are arranged on or in chassis components occupying a variable position relative to the body of the motor vehicle. Furthermore, the device for data transmission has components or assembly units provided as rigid parts of the body for processing and/or evaluating the data generated in or on the chassis components occupying a variable position and a means for transmitting the data supplied by the sensors to said components, which are arranged as rigid parts of the body. The transmission means is designed according to the present invention as a plastic film web, which is provided with strip conductors and whose strip conductors establish a connection between interfaces provided on the chassis side and on the body side.

  • Patent number: 6932440
Abstract: A method and apparatus for braking a vehicle having a vehicle brake system with a brake control device, and an engine whose torque is transmitted via a transmission to driven wheels. When there is a malfunction of the braking system and a demand for a braking operation, the transmission ratio is increased by a transmission control unit, which activates the transmission, to produce increased braking torque at the driven wheels.

  • Patent number: 6502908
Abstract: A control system for a vehicle has a detection device for generating signals which describe the operating and vehicle state. The latter signals are supplied to a regulating and control unit which generates actuating signals for switching on and off a vehicle component that influences a brake servo device for automatically producing braking force if the accelerator pedal is not actuated by the driver. This “acceleration—automatic braking” mode is triggered if the brake pedal has been actuated in a prescribed manner within a defined period of time.
