  • Patent number: 7288605
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the removal of free, emulsified, or dissolved water from liquids of low volatility, such as oil, is shown. The liquid of low volatility is removed by contacting the fluid stream of concern with one side of a semi-permeable membrane. The membrane divides a separation chamber into a feed side into which the stream of fluid is fed, and a permeate side from which the water is removed. The permeate side of the chamber is maintained at a low partial pressure of water through presence of vacuum, or by use of a sweep gas.

  • Publication number: 20060258802
Abstract: The invention provides dispersions of rigid-chain conjugated polymers, processes for their manufacture and the use thereof for the manufacture of electronic components. The process according to the invention comprises the steps of a) preparing a solution of the polymer in a strong acid or in a liquid mixture comprising a Lewis acid; and b) introducing the solution prepared in step a) into an aqueous surfactant solution so as to form a dispersion of the polymer. Thus, the invention provides a dispersion of such a polymer in an aqueous or organic or aqueous-organic dispersion medium, wherein the size of the dispersed polymer particles lies in the range of 10 to 800 nm. The dispersions according to the invention may be used for the manufacture of a thin film of the polymer, in particular, for electronic components.

  • Patent number: 7015821
Abstract: EEPROM memory matrix in which column lines are alternatively used as detector lines. A precharge voltage is applied to selected detector lines together with the relevant column line in each case before read-out of the memory columns. If a detector line loses its precharge level during the read-out of the memory cells, light incidence is assumed and a corresponding alarm function is triggered. Preferably column lines adjacent to the column lines that are respectively selected for the data transmission are connected as detector lines.

  • Patent number: 6859011
Abstract: A method for controlling the charging and discharging phases of a backup capacitor for a data storage medium has the step where the backup capacitor is first discharged to a defined voltage level before it is charged. The capacitor is discharged using a constant current. This ensures that the charging current for the backup capacitor cannot be used to identify what the charge-state of the capacitor was before discharging. Therefore, it is no longer possible to infer the currents that flowed during security-related arithmetic operations in a data processing unit. In one advantageous circuit configuration, a constant current source is formed by a current-mirror circuit, and a comparator is used to compare the voltage on the backup capacitor with a bandgap reference.

  • Patent number: 6708890
Abstract: A circuit configuration includes at least one nonvolatile, electrically erasable and writable memory area. Each memory area is assigned a nonvolatile, electrically writable and erasable flag memory, which is connected through an address line, a programming line and an authentication line to the assigned memory area, a programming voltage source and a data verification circuit. In the event of an alteration in the content of a memory area, the state of the associated flag memory is changed and, after verification of the programmed memory area content, the flag memory is returned to its basic state.

  • Patent number: 6698652
Abstract: A method of operating a multistage counter in only one counting direction includes the step of changing a counter reading of a single-stage auxiliary counter at given counter readings of the multistage counter. The single-stage auxiliary counter and the multistage counter can only be changed in one counting direction. Respective counter readings of the multistage counter and of the single-stage auxiliary counter are registered. Values of the respective counter readings of the single-stage auxiliary counter and of the multistage counter are compared with one another, and an indicator signal is generated based on a comparison result determined in the comparing step.
