  • Patent number: 10593162
Abstract: Examples provide a transparent scan platform within an item scanning tunnel on the same plane as a set of conveyor belts. The transparent scan platform includes a plurality of interconnected transparent segments or a transparent band forming a continuous transparent platform rotating about a set of rollers. The transparent scan platform includes a scan device embedded within the platform or positioned under the transparent scan platform. The scan device scans an item identifier, such as a barcode, located on an item sitting on a top surface of the transparent scan platform. The transparent scan platform rolls the item out of the scanning tunnel. If the item becomes wedged between an end of the scan platform and an end of a conveyor belt, a sweeper device extends downward behind the item and sweeps the item out of the scanning tunnel. The sweeper device then retracts back upward.

  • Publication number: 20200034812
Abstract: Examples provide a set of smart shelves including sensors for generating sensor data associated with one or more items displayed on the set of smart shelves. If the shelf sensor data indicates an item is removed from a smart shelf, the smart shelf sends out an item notification, including item data associated with the removed item. The item notification is sent to a set of smart carts within a notification zone. A smart cart includes sensor devices generating cart sensor data associated with items placed inside the smart cart device. If the cart sensor data indicates the removed item is placed into one of the smart carts, the smart cart sends a confirmation message to the smart shelf and any other smart carts within the notification zone. The smart cart receiving the removed item updates a list of items in the cart to include the removed item.

  • Publication number: 20190341138
Abstract: A method, a computer system and computer program product, including: establishing a communication link between at least one of the user mobile device and a user wearable computing device, and the computing system, receiving from at least one of the user mobile device and the wearable computing device: a shopping list of the user and a fitness goal of the user that the user has yet to achieve, and calculating a route throughout the shopping center that achieves or exceeds the fitness goal of the user while also guiding the user past the goods on the shopping list of goods that the user needs to purchase, wherein the route prioritizes achieving or exceeding the fitness goal of the user over an optimal route through the shopping center past the list of goods the user needs to purchase.

  • Publication number: 20190337660
Abstract: Examples provide a reusable bag support device providing an internal support structure to hold a reusable bag in an open and upright configuration. The reusable bag support device includes a central panel and one or more additional panels connected via one or more spring-loaded hinges. In other examples, the reusable bag support device includes a spring-loaded wire ring compressed into a closed configuration including a plurality of overlapping coils in a ring formation. A bag attachment clamp removably attaches the device to a portion of a lip of a reusable bag. A fixture attachment is provided to secure the reusable bag support device to a bag fixture. A compression holds the reusable bag support device in a closed configuration. The compression clamp is released to expand the reusable bag support device inside the reusable bag and conforms to a variety of shapes and sizes of non-standard reusable bags.

  • Publication number: 20190315570
Abstract: Examples provide a conveyor device for aligning items on a conveyor belt. An arm controller device activates extension and/or retraction of one or more item alignment arms across a width of a conveyor belt in accordance with a set of instructions to block or un-block items from moving down the conveyor belt. An item alignment controller analyzes the sensor data and item data using item recognition analytics and location detection analytics to generate location data for items on the conveyor belt. A selected item closest to a scan area is selected. A set of instructions, including a sequence, timing and/or degree of extension for each telescoping arm in the plurality of item alignment arms is generated. The instructions control the extension of the item alignment arms to stop the set of remaining items while permitting the selected item to move unobstructed down the conveyor belt.

  • Publication number: 20190236527
Abstract: Examples of the disclosure provide systems and methods for inventory management using smart containers. A computing system obtains, by a smart container component implemented on the computing system, sensor data from a set of sensors associated with a smart container. The computing system identifies an inventory status for the smart container using the obtained sensor data and determines whether to initiate inventory actions for the smart container based on the identified inventory status and a set of rules associated with the smart container.
