  • Patent number: 9706272
Abstract: Proposed is a bit-interleaver for an optical line terminal of an optical access network. The bit-interleaver contains a memory reader, that provides data streams at bit level to a space-time switch. The space-time switch reads within one input cycle up to N bit sets from the data streams. The switch switches within one writing cycle up to N bits onto up to its output ports, which provide respective output vectors. A number of N OR-function elements determine within the writing cycle respective single output bits. A number of N memory elements write within the one writing cycle a respective one of the output bits into a respective one of their bit sub-elements. A control unit that controls the reading of the data streams and also the switching of the bits by the switch. The control unit controls a choice of the writing addresses.

  • Publication number: 20120063472
Abstract: A method is intended for processing distributed data of a chosen type in a data packet network comprising communication nodes (N1-N5). This method comprises the steps of: —receiving a plurality of packets, comprising data of the chosen type and sent at regular time intervals by a source communication node (N1), —assessing a packet delay variation of each of these received packets, —selecting a subset of these received packets according to their respective assessed packet delay variations, and —synchronizing a destination communication node (N5) of the data packet network by means of timing information derived from the selected subset.

  • Patent number: 7489879
Abstract: A Laser device for optical packet data transmission in TDM-systems is provided. The device comprises a laser light source for outputting laser light beam and a laser driver for driving the laser light source; an optical modulator which receives and modulates the laser light beam output by the laser light source; a packet data source for outputting a packet data stream; and a modulator driver for receiving the packet data stream output by the packet data source and for driving the optical modulator in response to the packet data stream resulting in that the optical modulator modulates the laser light beam in response to the packet data stream. A filter generates an envelope signal of the data packets in the packet data stream, and a switch switches the laser driver in response to the envelope signal.

  • Patent number: 7389047
Abstract: The network comprises an optical ring link (F) and a concentrator (HUB) that sends via one end of the link “downlink” optical signals carried by respective wavelengths and receives “uplink” optical signals via the other end of the link. The link is divided into a plurality of segments (FS1-FS4) separated by access nodes (AN1-AN3) for receivers (RX) of downlink optical signals and for senders (TX) of uplink optical signals. Each access node comprises coupling means that are not wavelength-selective for coupling the segment on the upstream side of the node to the segment on the downstream side and to the receivers and to couple the senders (TX) to the segment on the downstream side. The downlink optical signals are carried by wavelengths belonging to a set of predefined wavelengths. To optimize the use of spectral resources, a rejection filter (NF) is inserted into a segment to reject a portion of the wavelengths of said set of wavelengths.

  • Patent number: 7136597
Abstract: A decision system for a modulated electrical signal delivered by a converter in response to a received modulated optical signal compares the amplitude of the electrical signal to a reference level, measures an average amplitude of the electrical signal, and generates the reference level as a function of the result of such measurements so that the “reference level/average amplitude” ratio can be adjusted to a predetermined constant value different from 1. Applications include receivers for optical packet transmission systems.

  • Publication number: 20050013617
Abstract: The invention relates to a laser device for optical packet data transmission. Such devices are basically known in the art and comprise a laser light source for outputting a laser light beam and a laser driver for driving said laser light source. The laser device further comprises an optical modulator means for modulating a packet data stream onto said laser light beam. The optical modulator means presently available on the market, only have a low extinction rate; consequently residual light is output by said optical modulator means, even if a logical zero shall be transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20020167700
Abstract: A device for determining level values in data flows comprising different level values, is characterized by means for performing the following steps: 1.) detecting the change between different part-data flows or packets, 2.) starting an integration of the next part-data flow, 3.) holding the output value of the integration device, 4.) deriving a level value from the output value of the integration device. Advantages of the invention are short building-up time and thus a better use of the individual channels, especially optical channels.
