Patent number: 8051824Abstract: A shaft (1a-d) is provided that is rotatably mounted by a journal (2) in a housing (4) in which lubricant mist is provided. One or several outward-extending ribs (6) extend between the journal and shaft sections (5a, 5b) adjacent to the journal. The shaft is mounted by the journal in the housing using a rolling bearing (3) that is lubricated exclusively by the lubricant mist. At least one of the ribs associated with the journal extends at a certain angle of attack (11, 12) to the axis of rotation of the shaft and is used as a blade for conveying the lubricant mist into the rolling bearing.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2007Date of Patent: November 8, 2011Assignee: Schaeffler Technologies GmbH & Co. Patent number: 7980211Abstract: The cam follower has a roller, which is movable, between a first axial position and a second axial position and which alternately transmits elevations, which are different from one another. The cam has a cylinder-piston unit, which has a pressure medium space for moving the roller from the first axial position into the second axial position, and a spring means for moving the roller from the second axial position into the first axial position. The piston of the cylinder-piston unit is the roller and the roller has an end wall, which delimits the pressure medium space, and an annular collar which extends from said end wall and whose outer lateral surface serves as a cam pick-off surface. The inner lateral surface of the annular collar surrounds an outer section of the cylinder of the cylinder-piston unit.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2008Date of Patent: July 19, 2011Assignee: Schaeffler KGInventor: Arndt Ihlemann

Patent number: 6341587Abstract: The invention proposes a lever-type cam follower (1) which, for mounting a pin (7) for a cam roller, comprises bores (5, 6) in the region of its side walls (2, 3). The diameter of the bore (5) is larger than the diameter of the bore (6). Corresponding ends (8, 9) of the pin (7) are configured so that when mounted, the pin (7) is fixed in the bores (5, 6) by a press fit. Thus, the pin (7) can be inserted with its second end (8) at first through the larger bore (5) without causing damage to its raceway (8a) during assembly. At the same time, the press fit guarantees an excellent fixture of the pin (7) in the cam follower (1) with an all-round contact.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2000Date of Patent: January 29, 2002Assignee: INA Walzlager Schaeffler oHGInventors: Walter Speil, Arndt Ihlemann, Martin Jakel

Patent number: 5979377Abstract: A sleeve-like element (14) is arranged inside a hydraulic support element to secure against drainage. In axial direction, the sleeve-like inner element (14) bears a shoulder (13) of a piston (4), formed by a rolled-in step (12). In this manner, the inner element (14) can be secured while the piston (4) maintains a uniform wall thickness.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1998Date of Patent: November 9, 1999Assignee: INA Walzlager Schaffler oHGInventors: Werner Barth, Arndt Ihlemann, Dieter Schmidt

Patent number: 4967889Abstract: The fluid friction clutch has a clutch cover mounted rotatably in relation to a rotatingly driven input shaft, which cover is divided by a partition into a reservoir for shear fluid and a working chamber. In the working chamber there is arranged a rotor driven in rotation by the input shaft, which rotor together with the partition and the cover defines shear gaps. A valve device controls the inflow of shear fluid in the working chamber. From the internal circumference of the working chamber a baffle body of the cover protrudes inwards into an annular chamber between the internal circumference and the external circumference of the rotor. Behind the baffle body in the drive direction of rotation of the rotor, a transfer opening is provided in the partition. On the side of the baffle body facing the rotation axis (1) an elevated portion of the partition adjoins, which constricts the shear gap between the partition and the rotor.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1988Date of Patent: November 6, 1990Assignee: Fichtel & Sachs AGInventor: Arndt Ihlemann
