  • Publication number: 20100034250
Abstract: Systems and methods for performing channel equalization in a communication system are presented. More particularly, embodiments of the disclosed method and apparatus are directed toward systems and methods for performing channel equalization in an OFDM system. One example of a method of negating the effects of IQ imbalance can include the operations of transmitting a channel estimation string across a channel. The channel estimation string comprises a plurality of known channel estimation symbols. The method further includes logically inverting predetermined symbols within the known channel estimation string; transmitting a second channel estimation string across the channel, the second channel estimation string including the logically inverted predetermined symbols; and estimating the IQ image noise based on received first and second channel estimation symbols.

  • Publication number: 20070286067
Abstract: In at least some embodiments, a system may comprise one or more devices configurable to communicate according to a first protocol that implements a first data packet, and one or more devices configurable to communicate according to a second protocol that implements a second data packet having a predetermined quadrature component. The one or more devices configurable to communicate according to the second protocol associate detection of the predetermined quadrature component with a function that is not supported by the one or more devices that communicate according to the first protocol.

  • Publication number: 20050281292
Abstract: In at least some embodiments, a system may comprise one or more devices configurable to communicate according to a first protocol that permits interpretation of transmitted symbols associated with a first time duration. The system may further comprise one or more devices configurable to communicate according to a second protocol that permits interpretation of transmitted symbols associated with multiple time durations. The one or more devices configurable to communicate according to the second protocol are operable to communicate using transmitted symbols associated with the first time duration and to communicate using transmitted symbols associated with a time duration that is not supported by the one or more devices configured to communicate according to the first protocol.

  • Publication number: 20050138194
Abstract: In at least some embodiments, a system may comprise one or more devices configured to communicate according to a first protocol that uses a data frame comprising a header field and a data field and one or more devices configured to communicate according to a second protocol that uses a data frame comprising a header field, a header extension, and a data field. The data frame used by the second protocol may comprise fictitious information for interpretation by the one or more devices configured according to the first protocol. In accordance with some embodiments of the invention, the devices configured according to the first protocol may use the fictitious information to determine a data transmission duration of data packets sent by devices configured according to the second protocol, even though the data packets may be sent according to parameters that are not supported by the first protocol.

  • Patent number: 6436715
Abstract: A method for the quantitative determination of silica oil or siloxane concentrations present in trace quantities in silicas or pyrogenic oxides by the quantitative evaluation of proton spectra is presented. The silica or pyrogenic oxide of interest is dispersed in a suitable organic solvent and the phases are then separated. The liquid phase is evaporated to a dry residue which is then redissolved in a deuterated solvent. The redissolved residue is evaluated quantitatively by proton NMR spectroscopy to determine the concentration of silica oil or siloxane by measuring the integral of the methyl silyl protons present in the 1H spectra and comparing same to the integral of the deuterated solvent.
