  • Patent number: 11906061
Abstract: It is described an in-line safe pressure test system and method for detecting leaks in a pressure safety valve PSV (100), the valve including an inlet (P1), outlet (P2) and valve seat controlling fluid flow between said inlet and outlet. The system includes a Safety Controller SC (110) with a test fluid source, at least one Abnormal Condition Detector ACD unit, controller, data storage unit, and communication means for sending and receiving signals from/to the SC and an external safety system, wherein the SC is adapted to apply a test pressure to the inlet side of the PSV until the test pressure exceeds a set opening pressure of the PSV and the valve seat starts lifting, detect the sound caused by vibrations from the first small leak past the valve seat, record and store the value of said test pressure and/or report said test pressure via said communication means.

  • Publication number: 20220178466
Abstract: It is described a system for detecting abnormal operating conditions in a shutdown valve (SDV (1)), said shutdown valve (SDV (1)) comprising an inlet pipe (5), an outlet pipe (6), a flow-controlling element (2) located between said inlet and outlet pipes, a stem (3) connected to the flow-controlling element (2) driven by an actuator arrangement (4), the system further including a first detector system for detecting stiction of the flow-controlling element (2), including a first predictor (20) connected to the stem (3), detecting the position of the flow-controlling element (2) transferred through the stem (3), and a second detector system for detecting a leak in the flow-controlling element (2), including a second predictor (40) for detecting vibrations in the flow-controlling element.

  • Publication number: 20220034416
Abstract: A system for detecting safe operating conditions and maintained integrity in a Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) the valve comprising an inlet, an outlet, a valve disc controlling fluid flow between the inlet and outlet, a stem connected to the valve disc, a spring washer, and a spring in communication with the valve disc and the spring washer, a vibration sensor which detects vibration in the valve disc, an inlet pressure sensor which detects the static pressure in the inlet, a position sensor which detects the position of the valve disc transferred through the stem, a compression load cell sensor which detects the dynamic force applied on the valve spring washer by the spring, an outlet pressure sensor which detects the pressure in the outlet, a separate shock sensor adapted to determine if the PSV has popped and then activate a microcontroller.
