  • Patent number: 6618944
Abstract: The invention relates to a load-bearing vehicle roof of so-called sandwich construction, wherein the material layer included in the vehicle roof comprises polymeric materials, laminate materials and/or metal layers. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for manufacturing such a vehicle roof. The load-bearing vehicle roof according to the invention comprises an outer cover layer (1), a core (3) and an inner cover layer (4) which together form a load-bearing structure. The load-bearing vehicle roof according to the invention is characterized in that at least one insulating layer (5) and/or a decorative layer (6), intended to be visible from a passenger compartment within a motor vehicle, is/are provided inside the inner cover layer (4), and that the insulating and/or the decorative layers (6) are provided as layers of the load-bearing vehicle roof before mounting onto the motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6482508
Abstract: The invention relates to a load-bearing vehicle structure of composite material, and a method for moulding such a load-bearing vehicle structure. The invention concerns the fields of fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites, sandwich structures and compression moulding. The load-bearing vehicle structure (1) according to the invention comprises first (2) and second (3) surface materials with reinforcement fibers and one or several intermediate pieces of core material (4, 5, 6, 7) which are arranged in pattern adapted to a load-bearing material structure, and is characterized in that the surface materials and/or the core material comprise(s) thermoplastic material, and that the first surface material is attached by means of thermal bonds to first faces of the piece or pieces of core material and that the second surface material is attached by means of thermal bonds to second, opposing faces of the piece or pieces of core material.

  • Patent number: 6358626
Abstract: An exterior autobody part of reinforced plastic intended to be mounted on a motor vehicle. The expression “exterior autobody part” refers to the autobody part being entirely or partly visible when the motor vehicle is viewed from the outside. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method and an arrangement for forming such an exterior autobody part. The exterior autobody part according to the invention comprises a number of functional layers, including load-bearing layer(s) and surface layer(s), intended to provide the properties which are required for the application, and is characterized in that load-bearing layers comprise(s) fiber-reinforced thermoplastic which forms internal cavities and/or that one or several recesses has/have been created in surface layers and load-bearing layers and that surface layers and load-bearing layers together with cavities and/or recesses thereby provide a load-bearing material structure.

  • Patent number: 5367137
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing a protective gas consisting of 0.0010-0.100 percent by volume nitric-oxide, 0-90 percent by volume helium, 0-5 percent by volume hydrogen, 0-50 percent by volume carbon dioxide, and the remainder argon. The invention also relates to a gas mixture for producing the productive gas. The method of producing the protective gas is characterized by dissolving nitric oxide in condensed argon to a concentration of 0.0010-0.100 percent by volume, calculated on gas phase, vaporizing the resultant solution and mixing remaining constituents in the vaporized solution in such proportions as to obtain a protective gas of the predetermined composition. The gas mixture used for producing the protective gas is characterized in that it consists of 0.0010-0.100 percent by volume nitric oxide in condensed argon, calculated on gas phase, and is preferably held under an overpressure.

  • Patent number: 4393609
Abstract: A feeding device comprises a rotary drum (1) in the casing wall (2) of which narrow slots (3, 4) are provided, said slots serving as intakes for the material to be fed. Blade-like elements (5, 6) project from the outside of the casing wall and co-operate with said slots for the purpose of ripping and carrying along material upon rotating of the drum so as to introduce the material into the interior of the drum through the intake slots (3, 4). On the inside of the casing wall (2) flange members (9, 10) are provided for conveying the material introduced into the drum to an outlet opening (8) at one end of the drum. (FIG. 1).
