  • Publication number: 20140119627
Abstract: A method of estimating the true uptake of a tracer in a physiological image acquired with a physiological image modality that has limited spatial resolution comprises: co-registering an anatomical image volume and the physiological image volume such that both image volumes have corresponding voxels; segmenting the anatomical image volume into a number of non-overlapping anatomical regions; combining each of the segmented anatomical regions with a function representative of the limited spatial resolution of the physiological image modality to generate a blurred anatomical region volume for each of the segmented regions; assuming the physiological image in each voxel to be a linear sum of the image intensities of the corresponding voxels in the blurred region volumes in that voxel; estimating, for each voxel, a value representative of the contribution to that voxel from each blurred region volume based on the uptake measured by the physiological image for that voxel and for nearby voxels; and using the estimate

  • Patent number: 6607886
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for simultaneous quantification of the amounts of one or more radioactive nuclides within arbitrary regions on a surface where these nuclides have been deposited, adsorbed or fixed. These radioactive nuclides serve as markers on compounds that typically have been incorporated into tissue sections or into larger biological molecules that by various mechanisms have been bound to chemical substances on this surface. The method is especially well suited for DNA microarray deductions through the use of nucleotides labelled with different beta-emitting radionuclides.

  • Patent number: 5245184
Abstract: A transmission phantom for total performance assessment of scintillation camera imaging has a constant thickness and at least two layers of homogenous material each layer having different radiation attenuating properties. A layer having a moderate attenuation provides relief areas and a radiation absorbing layer conforming to the relief areas provides for variable transmission through the phantom corresponding to the thickness of the absorbing layer to simulate pathological conditions in a patient. The method of manufacture includes the preparation of a relief mold including a bottom plate and side walls. The radiation absorbing material is poured into the mold, allowed to hardened and milled to a flat surface.

  • Patent number: 4303508
Abstract: A screening assembly is provided including a closed housing having an inlet and a first outlet, and a second outlet. A screen drum having a plurality of circumferential slots is mounted for rotation in the housing so that liquid passing from the inlet to the second outlet must pass through the drum slots. A a barrier member mounted on a short housing segment between the inlet and first outlet prevents short-circuiting of suspension flow from the inlet to the first outlet, and also includes a plurality of comb-like teeth extending into the drum circumferential slots. The barrier member has concave surface portions thereof adjacent the suspension inlet and outlet. The drum has a plurality of circumferentially spaced grooves or raised portions formed in or on the exterior surface thereon and extending substantially parallel to the axis of the rotation of the drum. The center lines of the inlet and first outlet preferably make an angle of about 45.degree.-90.degree.

  • Patent number: 4031013
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dewatering of cellulose pulp or other fiber suspensions. A suspension of relatively low solids concentration is passed into a sealed housing through an inlet, substantially filling the housing. The suspension is dewatered by bringing it into contact with perforated surfaces of a pair of drums or the like mounted for rotation about a vertical axis within the housing. Liquid from the suspension passes into an interior drum chamber, and at least a portion thereof is expelled from the housing through a liquid outlet. After passing a nip point between the two drums, the suspension has a higher solids concentration than the desired product suspension, and an amount of liquid is added thereto from the drum interior to dilute it to the final concentration.
