  • Patent number: 4903988
Abstract: In a steering wheel assembly for motor cars having a steering wheel column with two covering segments arranged side by side in an upper region in front of a steering wheel and with a passageway therebetween for the spokes of a steering wheel to pass through between the segments. A locking mechanism is provided to connect the covering segment to the steering drive. This locking mechanism is made to be disengageable from its locked fixed rotational position upon the occurrence of an obstruction in the rotation of the steering wheel hub or of the spokes to it, and thus allows at least one covering segment to be able to be rotated with the steering wheel when normal rotation is obstructed and to be reengageable in it original position after removal of the obstruction.

  • Patent number: 4741067
Abstract: In a windshield wiper installation for vehicles, the windshield wipers are lowered into a rest position behind an engine hood after the wiper motor is turned off in that a support arm which supports the wiper motor, the wiper gear and the wiper arm is displaced changing in height along at least one toothed rack guidance by an adjusting motor acting on a pinion.

  • Patent number: 4741557
Abstract: The proposed safety-belt arrangement in a vehicle has a three-point belt, for which an upper deflecting fitting, together with a guide part of a belt feeder arm, is retained on the vehicle center column so as to be vertically adjustable on a common support. The belt lug of the feeder arm can consequently be made as small as possible, while still accommodating passengers of varying sizes.

  • Patent number: 4447928
Abstract: A windshield wiper arrangement for motor vehicles which includes a telescopically constructed wiper arm having an effective length which can be altered during a wiping motion by a crank drive which acts upon the wiper arm and serves to create a particularly good wiping field. In order to enable a particularly compact and reliable construction, the drive for the windshield wiper arrangement is accommodated in a lower part of the wiper arm which is constructed as a housing. The drive includes a toothed gearing driven by a wiper drive unit, with the toothed gearing serving to drive the crank drive. The housing is constructed in such a manner that the windshield wiper arm and crank drive have a common axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4363838
Abstract: A protective molding for an edge of a hinged motor vehicle part, characterized in that the molding has a substantially V-shape cross sectional configuration and includes a guide leg terminating along one longitudinal side in an end portion, and a mounting leg for mounting on the vehicle part, the mounting leg being provided along the other longitudinal side of the guide leg, the guide leg defining a contact area adopted to contact an inner surface of the vehicle part adjacent said edge, and in that the end portion of the guide leg curves outwardly with respect to said V-shape configuration of the molding in a hook-shape adapted to surround the edge of the vehicle part for protecting said edge and wherein a portion of the outwardly curved, hook-shaped end portion of the guide leg adapted to surround said edge is tapered.

  • Patent number: 4329738
Abstract: A cover for lights, especially automobile lights, wherein at least a part of the cover which is located within a flat area of a reflector opening of the light when the cover is installed is provided with a number of individual sections. The sections are staggered in a stepwise fashion within a plane which is horizontal in the installed position and/or in a vertical plane with the sections extending in a direction opposite to an intended direction of travel of the atuomobile.

  • Patent number: 4099792
Abstract: Wheel brake apparatus including a brake lining which is moveable into and out of engagement with a brake drum or break disk of a vehicle wheel to be braked. A measuring element is provided for detecting relative movement between the brake lining and the drum or disk. The brake lining is moved by way of a wheel brake piston acted upon by a pressure medium. In order to prevent a lock up of the brake, a controller piston is provided for controlling pressure medium flow to the brake piston in response to the detection of no relative movement between the brake lining and the brake disk or drum, which in turn corresponds to a complete braking action. In preferred embodiments, the controller piston controls a vent line communicating with the front and back of a braking control piston interposed between a master cylinder and the brake lining.

  • Patent number: 4045052
Abstract: A passenger motor vehicle with a vehicle body means and with two axles carrying the body, and in which the body is supported with respect to at least one of the two axles by way of elastic axle guide elements and is rotatable at least with respect to this one axle about an axis of instantaneous rotation extending generally in the vehicle longitudinal direction and disposed at least approximately at the height of its center of gravity; the axle guide elements thereby form simultaneously spring elements for the vertical spring system of this one axle while the axle guide elements are of such construction that the vehicle body is transversely displaceable in a translatory manner with respect to this axle.
