  • Patent number: 6161730
Abstract: The apparatus for carrying out a mixing dispensing of a plurality of flowable components from a multiple chambered vessel (2) comprises the following parts:a housing (1) which can be placed onto the vessel and has an outlet opening (12), a transition part (11) which can be coupled on to the vessel and a tubular part (10) between the transition part and the outlet opening;a static mixer (4) consisting of a structure which can be pushed into the tubular part;a transition piece (3) which is arranged in the transition part, which produces separate supply passages (31, 31') from outlet openings (21, 21') of the vessel to the mixer structure (4) and which permits a flowing of the components only through these supply passages;and furthermore a coupling-on means (15) for the releasable securing of the housing to the vessel.

  • Patent number: 5913324
Abstract: The apparatus for injecting one or more additives (4) into a flow (5) of a highly viscous liquid into which the additives are to be admixed comprises a supply member (3) for each additive. This supply member is releasably connected to a tube section (2) conducting the flow. Each of the supply members has a supply channel (30) for the additive which stands transversely to the direction of flow. The additives temporarily form separate phases which coexist with the phase of the highly viscous liquid after having been fed in. A wall section (1) which is oriented in the direction of flow and can be flowed about on both sides by the highly viscous liquid is associated in each case with at least some of the injection members. Its inner side (10), that lying nearer the center of the tube, spans a surface on which the exit opening (35) of the supply member at least approximately lies. The wall section is provided downstream from the discharge opening as a spreading means (11) for the additive supplied.

  • Patent number: 5865537
Abstract: A mixing device for mixing a low-viscosity fluid into a high-viscosity fluid comprises the following parts: a main line for carrying the high-viscosity fluid and having inbuilt static mixing units of a main mixer; a branch line for a branch flow which is routed from the main line to the inlet of the main mixer, the main line and branch line of the main mixer being constructed from pipe sections with essentially parallel axes; a pump located in the branch line; a static auxiliary mixer at the end of the branch line; and a nozzle at the inlet to the auxiliary mixer for feeding in the low-viscosity fluid.

  • Patent number: 5688047
Abstract: The static mixer for viscous media comprises a tube and at least one mixing element arranged in the tube. The tube defines a main flow direction of the fluid to be mixed. The mixing element is formed as a monolithic structure with bars crossing one another and the bars each have an essentially rectangular cross section with a large and a small side. Crossing points of the bars are reinforced by local thickened portions. As a result of these thickened portions a common boundary surface between the bars which lies parallel to the main flow direction is at least about twice as large as the square area formed by the small side.

  • Patent number: 5564827
Abstract: The device for the homogenization of high-viscosity fluids comprises static mixing elements (11, 12) and possibly filter elements (6). These elements of the device are arranged in a sleeve (13) along the sleeve axis (15). According to the invention the sleeve is composed of several parts; the elements of the device are monolithic structural members (10, 20; 60) and all or a plurality of these structural members have flange-like or nose-like parts (4; 4a, 4b). With these parts the structural members engage so as to anchor in the sleeve region between sleeve parts and form, at the same time, parts of the sleeve. The device according to the invention is provided, for instance, as a mixing head (1) in the nozzle of an injection molding machine or as a melt mixer of an extruder.

  • Patent number: 5255974
Abstract: The mixer is constructed of a steel tubular housing and a replaceable plastic tube. Mixing elements are mounted within the plastic tube and are secured in place by carrier and sealing rings at opposite ends of the tube and housing. Each carrier and sealing ring has an annular sealing surface to seal against an internal surface of the plastic tube while having an abutment surface for abutting the mixer elements in order to retain the mixer elements in place. End connections are provided to secure the rings in place and in abutment against the tubular housing.
