  • Patent number: 4451179
Abstract: A drive rod centralizer suitable for use with a roof bolting drill is described. A roof bolting drill, which includes a drive rod mounted on a drive head, has a support frame connected thereto that is disposed over the drive rod. The support frame includes a plurality of supporting members which are positioned such that a roof bolting plate or board may be slidably received within the supporting members whereby the central bolt hole of the bolting plate is aligned with the drive rod of the roof bolting drill. By this arrangement, the drive rod passes through and is guided by the bolt hole in the plate, thereby centralizing the drive rod during a drilling operation.

  • Patent number: 4372708
Abstract: A two component resin capsule is disclosed for grouting an anchor element in a predrilled hole. More specifically, a flexible resin capsule is provided which may be wound on a reel and fed into a predrilled hole of any length. The resin capsule includes a plurality of pairs of sealing clips which enable the capsule to be severed intermediate any one of these pairs, thereby providing a capsule having a length corresponding to the length of the predrilled hole. The resin capsule, formed from a frangible material, includes a resin and a hardener housed in discrete compartments. The capsule is placed in a bolt hole such that when an anchor bolt is inserted, the capsule ruptures enabling the contents to mix and harden thereby achieving a secure resin bolting system.

  • Patent number: 4339006
Abstract: A method and apparatus for drilling bolt holes in a mine roof is described. The drill head of a roof bolting drill is provided with a deep chuck adapted to receive the lower male end of a conventional drill steel driver. In a drilling operation, a drill bit is connected to the upper female end of a drill steel driver, with the lower male end of the driver being connected to the deep chuck of the roof bolting drill. The drill bit is rotated and raised enabling it to bore a hole into the mine roof. Drilling continues until the drill steel driver is at least partially disposed within the bolt hole whereupon the driver is disconnected from the deep chuck. The drill is then lowered so that the lower male end of a second identical drill steel driver may be connected to the deep chuck, while the upper female end of the second drill steel driver is connected to the lower male end of the first drill steel driver enabling the drilling to continue.

  • Patent number: 4327947
Abstract: A keeper spring for mounting a rotatable mining tool in the bore of a supporting block is formed of a unitary, metallic spring material, and includes a cylindrical member which is split along its axial length so as to be radially expansible and contractable, thereby defining a first spring portion. Three, equally spaced elongated arcuate, leaf spring protuberances project radially outwardly of the central region of the cylindrical member and are aligned with the axial length of the cylindrical member. Each protuberance is formed by providing two parallel slits in the wall of the cylindrical member, after which the material intermediate the slits is indented outwardly so as to effectively define a second spring portion.

  • Patent number: 4291799
Abstract: A parallel tube resin bolting package is disclosed for use in resin bolting operations. The composite package has a generally figure 8 shape in cross-section, with one compartment containing a polyester resin while the other compartment contains a hardener composition. The resin bolting package is particularly useful in applications where the pre-drilled hole has a relatively small diameter.

  • Patent number: 4269704
Abstract: A screen for separating particles is disclosed which consists of a plurality of rows of elongated members disposed in a parallel array. The elongated members are formed from segmented tubular sections which are interconnected and are made from a cemented carbide material. The screen is especially useful in industrial applications where high abrasion resistance and increased screen life is necessary.
