The method consists of the steps of: (a) administering to the human subject a mixture of cold-pressed botanic seed oils; (b) administering to the human subject the mixture of cold-pressed botanic seed oils and a mixture of botanic seed flours; and (c) lowering the human subject's diastolic blood pressure and LDL cholesterol. A method of measurement of the synergistic effect of cold-pressed botanic seed oils and botanic seed flours in lowering diastolic blood pressure and LDL cholesterol in a human subject. The method consists of the steps of: a) administering to the human subject a mixture of cold-pressed botanic seed oils; b) administering to the human subject a mixture of botanic seed flours; and c) measuring the human subject's diastolic blood pressure and LDL cholesterol. Abstract: A composition useful as an immunostimulant and as an adjuvant to support various cancer treatment modalities is disclosed. Additionally, the use of a composition comprising seed oils and/or flours derived from the seeds and/or mixtures thereof as immunostimulants and as a daily supplements to enhance the immune system activity of subjects is also disclosed.

Abstract: The invention relates to a pseudorabies virus (PRV) not found in nature and having a genome containing a mutation in the protein kinase gene region and/or in the 28K gene region. The mutation is e.g. a nucleic acid substitution, deletion, insertion or inversion, or a combination thereof. The mutations are introduced, by genetic engineering techniques, into the genome of a naturally occuring PRV, preferably NIA-3. Insertions may be nucleic acid sequences encoding antigenic polypeptides characteristic of a pathogen found in pigs. The invention also relates to vaccines containing a pseudorabies virus according to the invention, and to a process for preparing such vaccines.

Abstract: The invention provides vaccines for preventing and controlling animal diseases, comprising a pseudorabies virus containing glycoprotein gp50 and having a mutation in its gp50 gene. The vaccines are suitable for use against Aujeszky's disease (pseudorabies), or against other animal diseases when the mutation is an insertion comprising a heterologous gene encoding an antigen corresponding to said animal disease. The pseudorabies virus may additionally have at least one mutation in one of its other genes, such as the gp63 gene or the gI gene. The vaccines are unable to spread from vaccinated to non-vaccinated animals.
