  • Patent number: 10255818
Abstract: Various vehicular systems may benefit from the appropriate use of detection and avoidance of potentially dangerous scenarios. For example, autonomous aircraft may benefit from systems and methods for weather detection and avoidance. A method can include sensing, by an aircraft, an environmental condition of the aircraft. The method can also include controlling, by the aircraft, flight of the aircraft based on the sensed environmental condition.

Assignee: AVIATION COMMUNICATION & SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS, LLC
    Inventor: Arnold Oldach
  • Publication number: 20160371990
Abstract: Various aviation systems may benefit from appropriately configured systems and methods for communication. For example, aircraft situational awareness systems and helideck systems may benefit from helideck surveillance transceiver systems and methods. An apparatus can include a transceiver and at least one data link antenna operably connected to the transceiver. The transceiver and the at least one data link antenna can be configured to obtain and distribute helideck information regarding a helideck to at least one helicopter.

  • Publication number: 20160133138
Abstract: Systems and methods are delineated for use by a helicopter and helicopter landing stations to facilitate helicopter situational awareness and landing assistance. In accordance an exemplary embodiment, a system for use with a helicopter is delineated wherein the system comprises a ground transmitter with a GPS receiver, said ground transmitter being located in proximity to a landing pad for the helicopter; a receiver on the helicopter to receive transmissions from the ground transmitter; a display on the helicopter to depict position of the landing pad; a GPS receiver on the helicopter to provide position of the helicopter; and a database including identification information for the landing pad.

  • Patent number: 8773288
Abstract: Present novel and non-trivial methods for presenting traffic information are disclosed. In a first method, data representative of ownship position, first traffic, and second traffic are received by a traffic symbology generator (“TSG”). The traffic is divided into zones and a correlation between the targets of the traffic is determined. A traffic symbology data set is generated by the TSG based upon the results of the correlation(s). In a second method, data representative of ownship position and first traffic, runway references, and a selectable display range are received by the TSG. The traffic is divided into zones, and a traffic symbology data set is generated by the TSG thereafter. In a third method, data representative of ownship position and first traffic are received by the TSG. The traffic is divided into zones, and a traffic symbology data set is generated by the TSG thereafter.
