    Abstract: A concrete block and hollow insulating insert in which the insert has recesses and cavities formed in the interior thereof for facilitating positioning the insert over reduced height webs interconnecting the walls of the block. In one form of block construction, interconnecting webs in another region of the block are also reduced to permit longitudinal reinforcement placement and/or provide a longitudinal channel for air circulation through that region of the block.
