Abstract: Fasteners, methods of forming fasteners, and methods of securing a work piece to a substrate using a fastener. Embodiments include fasteners having a structural feature below the head. The upper extent of the structural feature is on a plane parallel to the leading surface of a fastener head. Embodiments include a washer between the head and the structural feature. The structural feature may include a cutting edge for cutting and/or reaming a portion of the work piece.

Abstract: A fastener is provided comprising a shank having a head at one end and a tapered tip at the other end, and a threaded section having a helical thread on the shank. The fastener also comprises, on the head, side surfaces for engagement with a driving tool, and wherein each of the side surfaces has at least one rib formed thereon. Also provided is a method for driving a fastener, comprising providing a shank having a head at one end, a tip at the other end, and wherein the head comprises side surfaces for engagement with a driving tool, and wherein each of the side surfaces has at least one rib formed thereon. The method further comprises providing a driving tool having driving surfaces, and driving the fastener with the driving tool by engaging the driving surfaces of the driving tool with the at least one rib of the side surfaces of the head.

Abstract: A fastener for securing particle or bulge producing materials, a method of manufacturing the fastener, and a method of using the fastener are provided. The fastener has a thread on a shank, and a knurled portion disposed between the thread and a head. The fastener also may have at least one flute in the knurled portion, and may have at least one rib on the lower surface of the head. In use, the method is accomplished by inserting the fastener, by rotation, into a particle or bulge producing material, and producing particles or a bulge. Then, the method provides for transporting at least some of the particles from the particle producing material via the at least one flute, and securing the particle producing material to a base material. In a bulge producing material, the method provides for displacing the bulge into the material.

Abstract: A package for a plurality of products, having a closed container having a container wall, the wall defining a cavity for holding the products, and the wall having a product holder adapted to hold at least one selected product in a position visible from outside the container. The holder is an inwardly and/or outwardly opening recess formed in the wall, and the at least one selected product is positioned in the recess. The holder includes an outer member restraining the selected product to the outwardly opening recess, such as a packaging label, having a transparent portion forming a viewing window for viewing the selected product. In yet another aspect, the plurality of products in the cavity may be identical primary products, such as screws. The selected product may be different from the primary product, such as a driver bit for driving the screws.
