  • Patent number: 5093113
Abstract: A permanent wave and conditioning composition is attained by providing a first component consisting of an aesthetically pleasing, visually distinctive, dual-phase composition incorporating, in one layer thereof, hair and product enhancing agents such as hair conditioners, fragrances, and coloring agents, and a second component comprising the hair waving composition and emulsifiers. The emulsifiers assure complete dispersion and intermixing of the dual layers of the first component when the first and second components are combined. In addition, the dual-phase composition is formulated to assure separate and distinct layers are maintained for extended time periods, as well as being quickly separated when shaken.

  • Patent number: 4971080
Abstract: By incorporating corn syrup or glucose syrup into a conventional permanent hair waving solution, a unique permanent waving and hair conditioning composition is achieved which conditions the hair while simultaneously permanently waving the hair, in a single, one-step operation. In addition, the head of hair is permanently waved with a substantially lower level of damage occurring to the hair fibers than is otherwise encountered. Furthermore, by varying the relative quantity of corn syrup to the quantity of permanent wave solution, a variety of compositions are achieved for use on all different hair textures and levels of hair damage. However, in each instance, an effective amount of the carbohydrate mixture must be employed in order to ensure that the desired low level of damage to the hair is achieved.

  • Patent number: 4658839
Abstract: By providing a flexible, easily applied carrier which incorporates a combination of cationic hair conditioning agents and a water soluble or emulsifiable silicone-based compound, a unique hair treatment system is achieved. Preferably, the flexible carrier or applicator is constructed for being wrapped either entirely or partially about a head of hair and also incorporates hair enhancing agents, such as plant and herb extracts and, if desired, coloring agents, to further condition and enhance the hair. In the preferred embodiment, the hair treatment applicator is wrapped about the entire head of hair after shampooing, with the hair conditioners and hair enhancing agent contained therein being transferred to all of the hair fibers by the application of a hot towel to the wrapped applicator and subsequent thorough rubbing.
