    Abstract: A pneumatically actuated pressure transducer has a wiper assembly which is movable from an off position through a range of positions wherein the transducer has a varying voltage output. The pressure transducer comprises a high thermal conductivity substrate which forms a base for a potentiometer element and a resistance path coated onto the substrate. The resistance path includes a first area of low resistance material and a second area of high resistance material which meet in a chevron shaped transition zone. An insulating material coated onto the substrate defines the off position for the transducer.

    Abstract: A process for impregnating carbon resistors used in the telephony art to reduce or eliminate dusting of carbon particles during arcing, thereby permitting gap distances to be accurately maintained, and the useful life of the electrodes to be extended. The process includes the immersion of completed electrodes into a water solution of polyethylene glycol, whereby the solution is absorbed between the carbon granules, following which the water vehicle is allowed to evaporate, leaving a thin coating of glycol which binds the carbon granules together without significantly altering the resistive qualities of the carbon.

    Abstract: A multi-wire wiper contact is shown formed from a plurality of conductive and nonconductive wires wrapped about a mandrel to form a flat set of wires helically wrapped into a coil. The wire coil is then masked with a desired pattern and the unmasked wire is plated with a conductive metal. The metal plate which forms on the unmasked portions of the wire does not form on those unmasked wires which are nonconductive. After plating, the masking is removed, one set of wire is cut, and the wire set and plated portions holding that set are removed from the mandrel in a continuous flat strand of wire with the nonconductive wire forming a parting line for the strand. The nonconductive wire is removed from the strand and the strand is then cut and shaped into a multi-wire wiper contact for use in potentiometers and other electromechanical devices.
