    Abstract: A method for locating and retrieving a line, tube or conduit (“line”) disposed in a well includes moving an intervention tool into a part of the well wherein the line is accessible to the tool when the tool is conveyed into the well from within a first tubular string. A first gripper arm is rotated in a first direction around an inner circumference of the first tubular string by operating a first motor in the tool until the first gripper arm contacts the line. A second gripper arm is rotated in a second direction opposed to the first direction around the inner circumference until the second gripper arm contacts the line by operating the first motor in a same direction as for rotating the first gripper arm. The first gripper arm and the second gripped arm are retracted to move the line toward the intervention tool.

The apparatus also includes a radially movable centralizer arranged around the mandrel for centring the apparatus. The activation device being operatively connected to the gripping device, the packer element and the centralizer for the respective activation and radial movement of each, via power transmission of axial forces, between retracted, passive positions and expanded, active positions relative to the center axis of the apparatus.

The tool includes an elongated housing with first and second end portions, a gripping device in the first end portion provides releasable engagement with the well device controllable by means of the manipulation tool. The gripping device includes means for resisting rotational and axial movement between the housing and the well device. At least one manipulation device is axially displaceable between a first and second position along a longitudinal axis of the housing and rotatable around the longitudinal axis of the housing. A first driving device produces axial displacement of the at least one manipulation device, and a second driving device produces rotation of at least one manipulation device. The first and second driving devices are connected to a control unit for controlling energy to the driving devices.
