    Abstract: A communication system that includes a management server communicatively coupled to a gNB and a plurality of remote antenna arrays distributed spatially over a geographical area. The management server causes each remote antenna array of the plurality of remote antenna arrays to obtain one or more signal synchronization block (SSB) signals in a mmWave frequency band from the gNB via a dedicated communication medium. Each remote antenna array of the plurality of remote antenna arrays obtains different SSB signals via the dedicated communication medium. The management server further causes each remote antenna array of the plurality of remote antenna arrays to execute beamforming to direct one or more beams of RF signals corresponding to the obtained one or more SSB signals to serve its corresponding UEs.

    Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for determining an EIRP constraint for a data stream based on the direction that a beam carrying the data stream is to be radiated by an array of antennas rather than using a fixed EIRP constraint for all such beams. The system and method can use the direction the beam is to be radiated to determine a distance between the array of antennas and the closest point (or location) in which a human being can potentially be impacted by the radiated beam. For larger distances, the EIRP constraint can be adjusted upward, allowing for higher transmit power levels. Conversely, for comparatively smaller distances, the EIRP constraint can be adjusted downward, allowing for lower transmit power levels.

    Abstract: In wireless operating environments, wireless user devices are often within the coverage area of multiple base stations. The base station providing the best uplink for the user device may be different than the base station providing the best downlink for the user device. Systems and techniques for asymmetric uplink and downlink communications for a user device are provided. In embodiments, the user device initially synchronizes with a base station. Both the uplink and downlink are initially served by this base station. A determination is then made whether to handoff the downlink for the user device to another base station. When a determination is indicated, the downlink is handed off to the second base station. Thereafter, periodic measurements are made. The determinations whether to handoff the uplink and downlink for the user device are made independently.
