  • Patent number: 9088156
Abstract: An electric switch is disclosed, in particular an electric circuit breaker. In at least one example embodiment, the switch includes a measuring channel for measuring an electric measured variable and is switched off when the result of a measurement reaches or exceeds a limit value. To test the mode of operation of the measuring channel, the electric measured variable is switched to a reference channel and a reference signal source is switched to the measuring channel and the reference result obtained via the measuring channel is compared with a reference setpoint. The switch is also tripped if, to test the mode of operation of the measuring channel, the electric measured variable is switched to the reference channel and the result obtained via the reference channel reaches or exceeds the limit value.

  • Patent number: 8907751
Abstract: A power circuit breaker is disclosed wherein an electric current is monitored by an electronic trip unit in order to detect an electrical fault. In an embodiment, a first magnetic device of the power circuit breaker, in the event of a fault being detected, is configured to be excited which, when it is excited, trips a trip mechanism via a plunger. As a result of tripping, the trip mechanism disconnects two contacts via which the current flows. The power circuit breaker of an embodiment includes a second magnetic device which is likewise able to be excited by the ETU and by which the trip mechanism is likewise able to be tripped.

  • Publication number: 20070115083
Abstract: A low voltage circuit breaker includes an electronic trip and trip magnets. A trip magnet is controlled by an overload trip and a further trip magnet, such as a low voltage trip or a working current trip. The trip magnets are mounted on a rear face, facing away from the operating front of the electronic trip. In the same section of the operating field, display and reset devices are accessible to the user.

  • Patent number: 7133270
Abstract: An electrical power breaker includes an electronic protective device and an electronic memory. The memory is accommodated in the power breaker such that it is physically separated from said protective device, for operational data for the power breaker. Data security when using the additional electronic memory is increased by the electronic memory being connected to the protective device via a data bus, which can be used to transmit control signals for the purpose of activating or deactivating a write protection device of the electronic memory. The data bus is preferably an I2C bus, and the write protection device is controlled by an I/O module which is likewise controlled by the I2C bus.

  • Publication number: 20050087430
Abstract: A power circuit breaker includes break contacts for main current circuits and a connection device for auxiliary current circuits that interacts with a contact device mounted in a fixed manner. Signaling switches are placed on a withdrawable rack, which accommodates the power circuit breaker, and are provided for detecting and signaling the position of the power circuit breaker located inside said withdrawbable rack. The signaling switches are structurally assigned in a direct manner to an interface subassembly that processes signals, which are transmitted out of the contact device and by the signaling switches and to be relayed to a field bus system.

  • Patent number: 6809913
Abstract: Data memories are used to represent the characteristic values of the properties of the circuit-breaker and the associated current transformer. A cable harness uses a writeable electronic memory module which is inserted into one of the interconnecting cables between the current transformer(s) and the overcurrent trip as the data memory.

  • Publication number: 20030156373
Abstract: Data memories are used to represent the characteristic values of the properties of the circuit-breaker (10) and the associated current transformer (17). Known assemblies requires a large number of plug and socket connections and are limited with regard to the number of parameters that can be stored. The inventive assembly uses a writeable electronic memory module which is inserted into one of the interconnecting cables (1) between the current transfomer(s) and the overcurrent trip (18) as the data memory.
