  • Patent number: 11728809
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a sensor having an extended sensing distance range beyond conventional proximity sensors. The sensor includes an electrical component structure having a topology in which current is concentrated close to a periphery of the electrical component to produce an extended sensing field. A frequency adjustment circuit can be used to control a frequency of the sensing field to avoid jammers or other interfering signals.

  • Patent number: 7753756
Abstract: An external positioning data linked radio controlled system and method for radio controlled vehicle (RCV) racing emulation including an infield RCV control device for receiving externally generated positional data from remote race vehicles on a remote race course, receiving locally input control signals from a user, an electronically reproduced racecourse map of the remote racecourse in a memory used to compute an electronic boundary for RCV devices, and error correction signals generated from feedback from an RCV. The infield RCV control device transmits wireless local control RCV signals containing RCV position, speed and direction data to each of a plurality RCVs responsive to the wireless local control RCV signals. The wireless local control RCV signals containing RCV position, speed and direction data based on processing the externally generated positional data, the locally input control signals, the electronically reproduced racecourse map, and error correction signals.

  • Publication number: 20040133092
Abstract: A wireless sensing system is configured to measure the distension of a flexible tube. The system includes a sensing unit having a sensor element that attaches to the tube and which causes a quiescent frequency produced by the sensing unit to change when the sensor element is physically distorted by distension of the tube. A scanning unit of the system remotely and wirelessly triggers the sensing unit to power up and transmit a modulated signal to the scanning unit for decoding, where the decoded signal indicates a measured quiescent frequency of the sensing unit. The wireless sensing system may be employed, for example, to measure the distension of a blood vessel for the purpose of monitoring blood pressure.

  • Patent number: 5578969
Abstract: A split dielectric resonator having two preferably half cylindrical dielectric elements is used to stabilize an oscillator operating at microwave frequencies. Fine tuning may be achieved by means of a tuning screw which has a thermal expansion coefficient between those of the dielectric elements and electrically conductive supporting walls. Additionally, fine tuning may be achieved by offsetting the two elements from each other within a horizontal or vertical plane. This oscillator can also be configured as an accelerometer or pressure or displacement sensor by substituting a movable deflecting member for the supporting wall.

  • Patent number: 5546806
Abstract: A microwave resonant cavity comprises a resonator whose normal RF electromagnetic modes are varied by displacement of a probe. Acceleration of the cavity displaces the probe. The acceleration is determined by the variation in preselected discrete modes. The electrical components of the device may be built from planar structures and microwave energy may be generated within the device.

  • Patent number: 5261278
Abstract: A microwave resonant cavity contains a dielectric resonator whose normal RF electromagnetic modes are varied by displacement of a probe. Acceleration of the cavity displaces the probe. The acceleration vector or displacement vector is determined by the variation in preselected discrete modes. The device also may be used to accurately measure pressure where the displacement of the probe is caused by flexing of a pressure responsive membrane.
