  • Publication number: 20220254557
Abstract: Systems and methods for reclaiming and remagnetizing permanent magnet motors such as may be used in electric submersible pumps. In one embodiment, a method includes removing a permanent magnet rotor assembly from a motor and heating the rotor to burn off the residual oil and evaporate water in between laminations of the rotor and on the rotor surface. The rotor should be heated to a temperature that is above a flashpoint of oil on the rotor and below a Curie temperature of a material of a set of permanent magnets in the rotor (e.g., at least 600° F. for at least 12 hours). The heating may partially or fully demagnetize the permanent magnets in the rotor. The exposed surfaces of the rotor are then cleaned and the permanent magnets in the rotor are remagnetized using a specialized magnetizing fixture.

  • Publication number: 20200304002
Abstract: An electrical submersible pump motor has rotor sections mounted along a length of a shaft to cause rotation of the shaft. Pole magnets are spaced apart from each other and mounted to the shaft. Each of the pole magnets is polarized with a north pole on one of its inner and outer sides and a south pole on the other of its inner and outer sides. An orthogonal magnet is mounted between each of the pole magnets. Each of the orthogonal magnets is polarized with a north pole on one of the its ends and a south pole on the other of its ends.

  • Patent number: 9261574
Abstract: An imaging apparatus that incorporates an RF coil assembly and RF shield as part of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system is disclosed. The imaging apparatus includes an MRI system having a plurality of gradient coils, an RF coil former having inner and outer surfaces, an RF shield positioned on the outer surface of the RF coil former so as to be formed about the RF coil former, and an RF coil positioned on the inner surface of the RF coil former, with the RF coil coupled to a pulse generator to emit an RF pulse sequence and receive resulting MR signals from a subject of interest. The RF coil former comprises a generally cylindrical member having an indented portion indented in a radial direction inwardly from the outer surface, with the RF shield conforming to the RF coil former so as to also have an indented portion.
