  • Publication number: 20240120118
Abstract: A masking element with an opening is disposed on the side of a core support structure. A flow stack wall defines a plurality of inlets. At least one inlet aligns with the masking element opening when the flow stack is mated with the masking element. A flow control assembly within the flow stack is configured to restrict flow of fluid within the flow stack.

  • Publication number: 20220254523
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods of filtering debris from the bottom nozzle of a nuclear reactor while minimizing loss coefficients are disclosed herein, including a debris filter bottom nozzle with a plate-like body, a plurality of flow passages, and a filter positioned within at least one flow passage, wherein the at least one flow passage has a dimension based at least in part on a predetermined loss coefficient of the at least one flow passage and a predetermined filtration capability of the filter.

  • Publication number: 20220215971
Abstract: A debris filtering skirt configured for use with a flow plate of a bottom nozzle of a nuclear reactor is disclosed herein. The debris filtering skirt includes a base portion defining an opening between a bottom edge and a reactor vessel lower core plate, and the opening includes a dimension configured to position the bottom nozzle a predetermined distance away from the reactor vessel lower core plate. The debris filtering skirt also includes a plurality of holes, and at least one hole of the plurality of holes includes a dimension determined based, at least in part, on a predetermined size of debris capable of traversing through the inlet and the outlet. The dimension of the opening and the dimension of the at least one hole are determined based, at least in part, on a predetermined loss coefficient of the bottom nozzle.

  • Publication number: 20200373025
Abstract: A filtering arrangement for use in a bottom nozzle of a fuel assembly in a nuclear reactor includes a top surface, a bottom surface, a plurality of vertical wall portions arranged in a generally squared grid-like pattern which extend between the bottom surface and the top surface and define a plurality of non-circular passages extending between the bottom surface and the top surface through the arrangement, and a plurality of first debris filters which are each positioned between the top surface and the bottom surface to generally span across a respective one of the plurality of passages.

  • Publication number: 20170314271
Abstract: Asphalt roofing systems including multiple sealing strips between two overlaid asphalt roof shingles are described. Additional sealing strips can enhance wind and water resistance of a roof. Simulations are carried out with three tab asphalt roofing shingles to determine desirable locations for multiple sealing strips between overlaid shingles.
