    Abstract: The simulated log fireplace apparatus housing forming a fire box having back, bottom, top wall, two side walls, and an open front containing at least one artificial log and simulated flame sheet. A blower directs air on to the flame sheet to simulate real flame movement. A colored light source provides color of real flames. The light source and blower are adjustable from a control panel under a top louver panel. The artificial log may include a translucent base log and ember bed with a light source beneath the translucent log. A window log having an aperture simulate a burning core. A transparent partition has a partially opaque area just above the simulated flame sheet provides the full depth of real fireplace. The apparatus may include electric blower heater, a crackle box, decorative simulated brick panels placed on back and side walls, metal screen, glass doors, vents and louvers.

    Abstract: The simulated log fireplace apparatus having a housing (14) forming a fire box having a back wall (22), bottom wall (18), top wall (16), two side walls (23a,b) and an open front side (11) containing at least one artificial log (32) and simulated flame sheets (33) therein. A blower (50) directs air on to the simulated flame sheets to simulate the movement of real flames. A colored light source (39) provides the color of real flames. The light source and blower are adjustable from a control panel (21) under a louver panel (47) in a top front of the apparatus. The artificial log may include a translucent base log (32) on an ember bed (26) with a white light source (31) beneath the translucent log. A window log (29) having an aperture (26) simulate a burning core of a real log. A transparent partition (45) that has a partially opaque area (55) just above the simulated flame sheets helps to further simulate appearance and depth of a real fireplace.

    Abstract: An artificial log burning fireplace assembly which produces a visual effect indistinguishable from a real log burning flame in a fireplace. The assembly includes one or more artificial logs lying horizontal along the front of the fireplace. A rod lies horizontally behind the artificial logs. A plurality of elongated pieces of colored fabric are spaced apart and one short end of each piece of colored fabric is attached to the rod. A pair of electrically powered blowers are positioned behind the artificial logs and each blower is mounted near one end of the rod. The blowers are angled one to the other to create in the region surrounding the pieces of colored fabric a turbulent air flow in the region surrounding the pieces of colored fabric thereby creating a visual effect that is indistinguishable from a real log burning flame in a fireplace.

    Abstract: A method of forming a flexible mold (12) and resulting article is provided where a model (10) having the contour of the article to be molded is provided. The model (10) is partially encapsulated within a flexible and substantially liquid impervious layer (14). The combined model (10) and liquid impervious layer (14) is immersed into a curable liquid composition and handle members (36, 38) are inserted into the curable liquid composition. The curable liquid composition (34) is cured having the handles (36, 38) embedded within the composition (34) and subsequent to curing, forms a solid flexible mold encompassing structure (44). Handle members (36, 38) are actuated to release the model (10) from the layer (14) to form the flexible mold (12) for the article to be produced.

    Abstract: A mixture of granulated particles comprising ceramic fibers sized to pass through a screen having an opening measuring not more than 3/4of an inch, a binder of colloidal silica, and water are mixed to form a granulated mixture. The ceramic fibers comprise 68.3 wt % of the mixture, colloidal silica comprises 7.5 wt %, and water comprises 24.2 wt % of the mixture. Further, the mixture may be encased in a moistureproof bag for storage and shipping.

    Abstract: A method of molding at article capable of enduring temperatures of at least 1250.degree. F. without deformation or deterioration. High temperature resistant fibers cut to a length of one eighth of an inch are mixed with water to create a pool of slurry. A flexible mold having an article-forming cavity affixed to a suction chamber having means for injecting slurry into the cavity and means for the flow of liquid out of the cavity when the flexible mold and the suction chamber are under vacuum to create within the mold cavity an article of compacted high temperature resistant fibers. The mold is flexed causing the molded article to be released from the cavity within the mold.
