  • Patent number: 8735571
Abstract: A composition of exceptionally dense chitosan and a novel method for producing the dense chitosan structure have been described. The novel production method employs coincident compression and vacuum on a neutralized chitosan polymer that results in an exceptionally dense chitosan film or membrane material. The dense chitosan film or membrane composition possesses multiple physical and clinically appealing qualities for a variety of medical applications on or in animals, mammals, or humans.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 22, 2011
Date of Patent: May 27, 2014
    Assignee: Agenta Biotechnologies, Inc.
Inventors: Arthur A. DeCarlo, April Ellis, Thomas P. Dooley, Maria Belousova

  • Patent number: 7772204
Abstract: The present disclosure describes the use of the heparan sulfate proteoglycan perlecan as treatment for the improvement of wound healing and/or cutaneous injury.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 22, 2008
Date of Patent: August 10, 2010
    Assignee: Agenta Biotechnologies, Inc.
Inventors: Arthur A. DeCarlo, John Whitelock
  • Patent number: 7666852
Abstract: The present disclosure provides nucleic acid constructs encoding one or more polypeptides containing at least one glycosaminoglycan chain, such as, but not limited to, a proteoglycan polypeptide, and methods for delivering to the site of a wound or cutaneous injury at least one nucleic acid construct encoding one or more such polypeptides, such that the expressed polypeptide is glycated by glycosaminoglycan chains through the normal physiological processes of the subject at the site of administration to produce a functional proteoglycan polypeptide for the healing of the wound or other cutaneous injury. The delivered nucleic acid construct is transcribed, translated and post-translationally modified by the addition of glycosaminoglycan chains (referred herein as “decoration” or “glycation”) to produce a decorated polypeptide.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 14, 2007
Date of Patent: February 23, 2010
    Assignee: Agenta Biotechnologies, Inc.
Inventors: Arthur A. Decarlo, John Whitelock, April L. Ellis
  • Patent number: 7488719
Abstract: A description of a biomolecule named Perlecan which is added internally or topically, or is expressed from exogenously added nucleic acids, as a whole or in part, to a healing wound to improve the success of wound healing is disclosed. Relevant embodiments for this patent technology are described.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20070003947
Abstract: A method and kit for the identification of a user's genotypes associated with increased risk for developing periodontal disease are disclosed. The kit includes non-invasive DNA sample collecting means, and disclosed are means for determining certain genotypes which are then compared to those of controls with known periodontal disease status to determine a user's relative risk for developing periodontal disease.
