  • Patent number: 4553217
Abstract: A non-contact optical gauger for measuring glassware articles of manufacture at the hot end of an individual section machine. As the manufactured glassware is being conveyed away from the individual section machine, a light beam is direct across its path. An array of photo-sensitive sensors and a microprocessor based electronic system interpret the light beam interruptions as measurement data which are stored and can be displayed as desired.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 11, 1984
Date of Patent: November 12, 1985
    Assignee: Ball Corporation
Inventors: Stephen W. Daudt, George W. Gleason, William C. Hermanson, Arthur A. Olsen
  • Patent number: 4511250
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring the scalar irradiance of a given vicinity produced by all sources over a given angular range. The apparatus includes a planar array of convex spherical surfaces, a detector oriented toward the array, and a shielding plate having holes which abut and secure the convex spherical surfaces.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 20, 1981
Date of Patent: April 16, 1985
    Assignee: Ball Corporation

  • Patent number: 4329050
Abstract: A strip field telescopic spectroradiometer for gathering data along an entire narrow line of a two-dimensional field of view simultaneously. The optical axis of a concentric telescope is folded into the collimator axis of a concentric spectrograph by a spherical field mirror. The spectrograph includes an array of charge coupled devices as a detector at its final image surface.
