  • Patent number: 8464540
Abstract: A plant produces electrical energy from municipal solid waste without exhausting a carbon dioxide or other carbon based gas to the atmosphere. The plant includes a source of artificial light powered by electrical energy, and a reactor into which the municipal solid waste is fed and which is operated under temperature, pressure and flow rate conditions to produced a syngas. An electrical energy generating station at which the syngas is burned produces the electrical energy and a flue gas comprising carbon dioxide and other products of combustion. At least a portion of the electrical energy is used to power the artificial light source. A carbon dioxide collector separates the carbon dioxide from the other products of combustion in the flue gas to provide a clean carbon dioxide suitable as a nutrient for microorganisms, and a farm of the microorganisms is illuminated essentially constantly, alternately with sunlight and artificial light from said source.

  • Publication number: 20120292227
Abstract: A jewelry box includes a first box portion and a second box portion connected by a hinge, a linkage inside the jewelry box, the linkage comprising a first link connected to the first box portion by a first joint and a second link connected to the first link by a second joint, and a jewelry mounting portion on the first link or the second link. When the jewelry box is adjusted from an open configuration to a closed configuration, one of the first link and the second link rotates toward, to, or through a vertical position and the other of the first link and the second link rotates toward, to, or through a horizontal position.

  • Publication number: 20050103778
Abstract: A microwave desorber is used to remove volatile organic compounds from resins in order to recycle the resins. The desorber includes a container adapted to receive the contaminated resin, and at least one waveguide adapted to introduce microwave energy into the contaminates in the container. A mechanism is provided for moving one of the container and the waveguide relative to the other container and the waveguide to facilitate uniform heating of the contaminants. At least one of the container and the waveguide can be moved, such as oscillated, radially or axially. The contaminated resins can be moved through a preferred radial zone of the container in order to optimize the microwave heating in accordance with the particular contaminates or resins.

  • Publication number: 20040248886
Abstract: The present invention relates to sulfonamide derivatives of formula (I) notably for use as pharmaceutically active compounds, as well as to pharmaceutical formulations containing such sulfonamide derivatives. Said sulfonamide derivatives are useful in the treatment of neuronal disorders, autoimmune diseases, cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Furthermore, said sulfonamide derivatives are efficient modulators of the JNK pathway, they are in particular efficient and selective inhibitors of JNK2 and -3. The present invention is furthermore related to novel sulfonamide derivatives as well as to methods of their preparation. Formula (I) IAr1 is a substituted or unsubstituted aryl or heteroaryl group; X is O or S, preferably O; Ar2 a substituted or unsubstituted arylene or heteroarylene group; R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and a C1-C6-alkyl group.

  • Patent number: 6562113
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for purifying a contaminated fluid stream, for example an air stream contaminated with volatile organic compounds. A sorption media is directed between narrowly spaced plates which control the depth of sorbant flow. In an adsorber the plates are porous to allow the contaminated air to pass into an adsorption chamber where the media removes the contaminates from the fluid stream. In a desorber the plates may be transmissive or reflective of microwave energy and porous to a purging gas in a desorption chamber where the media releases the contaminates to refresh the media. An inclined plane or conical surface is contemplated for a desorber which can be coupled to an adsorber in a closed loop system.
