  • Publication number: 20060124886
Abstract: A gate valve includes a housing, a gate support positioned within the housing, a gate connected to the gate support, and first and second actuators that control movement of the gate support and gate. The housing defines a valve chamber having first and second aligned openings for passage of air between first and second housing side walls. The gate support is reciprocable between a first support position remote from said openings and a second support position between said openings. The gate is transversely reciprocable between a first gate position spaced from said openings and a second gate position sealing off the first opening. The actuators move the gate support between first and second support positions and move the gate between first and second gate positions. The gate support is spaced apart from the second side wall of the housing when the gate is in the first and second gate positions.

  • Patent number: 6443426
Abstract: An improved slide lock mechanism for a vacuum valve (10) including an end plate or bonnet (42) mounted to an end flange (46) and a pair of slide lock plates (14). An elongated drive shaft pinion (36) drives a rack (52)connected to slide lock plates (14), to linearly shift the slide lock plates into clamping engagement with guide screws (20), thus achieving a tight seal at upper flange (46) and bonnet (42). Elongated drive shaft pinion (36) provides access from above vacuum valve for disengaging, or unclamping, the valve plate and its actuator for repair or maintenance.

  • Patent number: 6293306
Abstract: A throttle gate valve (10) including an upright, generally rectangular valve housing (12), in which is positioned a linearly movable gate valve (32) for closing off a thru-opening (15) formed in the lower part of housing (12). A pneumatic actuator assembly (14) is provided for moving the gate valve between its opened and closed positions. A throttle vane assembly compartment (16) forms the lower side of valve housing (12) and frames thru-opening (15), and includes a set of throttle vanes (18) rotatably positioned within thru-opening (15), and a drive actuator compartment (20) and motor (21) for controlling the position of throttle vanes (18). A drive actuator (51) is provided for rotating vanes (18) and is sealed by a bellows shield (70) at the point where the drive actuator extends into the interior of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5975492
Abstract: A slot valve assembly (10) including a housing (11) having a central opening (19), a valve plate (32), a strongback (20) for carrying the valve plate, a pair of actuators (34, 36) for raising and lowering the strongback to position the valve plate over opening (19), and a second set of actuators (240) for moving valve plate (32) into seating engagement with housing (11). Second actuators (240) are in fluid communication with the working chambers (48, 50) of the first pair of actuators (34, 36). First actuators (34, 36) are located within housing (11) to give the housing a much shorter height.

  • Patent number: 5884899
Abstract: A gate valve (110) includes a valve housing (112), valve plate (130), and linkage assembly (134, 136, 140). An actuator assembly (124) includes a cylinder component (150) and a piston component (170). Piston component (170) includes a piston rod (174) that has a downwardly extending annular collar (187) and cylinder component (150) includes an end wall (156) with an upstanding annular collar (160), which slidingly mates with collar (187). A bellows shield (192) is flexibly mounted between the piston rod and the cylinder end wall to isolate the valve chamber of housing (112) from the sliding interfit of the piston and cylinder components. Piston component (170) also includes an annular groove (198) for receiving the annular collar (160). Wear rings (191, 193) are provided between piston component (170) and cylinder component (150).

  • Patent number: 5881998
Abstract: A slot valve (10) comprising a valve housing (12) defining a valve chamber (14) and having a valve gate (34) movable to seal off a central opening (30). An actuator assembly (46) includes a piston component (70, 72) and a cylinder component (60), and a pair of inner telescoping actuators (108), which define inner working chambers (120). Wear rings (124, 126, 128) engage guide surfaces that are isolated from valve chamber (14) by means of a bellows shield (90). The guide surfaces are positioned at least partially along the length of the bellows shield (90), within the second working chamber (104) of the actuator, so as to decrease the height of the actuator.

  • Patent number: 5791632
Abstract: A quick release clamp mechanism (10) including a pair of slide lock plates (12, 14) for engaging a series of guide screws (32) extending down from a bonnet or end plate (16) and through openings in a valve body flange (18). Toggle clamps (40) releasably engage one of the guide screws (32') and thereby can slide the slide lock plates (12, 14) by pivoting of a toggle lever (76). Sliding of slide lock plates (12, 14) causes a neck down region of openings (34) in plates (12, 14) to capture the heads of guide screws (32) and clamp bonnet plate (16) to valve body flange (18).
