  • Patent number: 4687523
Abstract: A core sample from a subterranean formation is injected with an aqueous fluid and a pressurized gas which is soluble in the aqueous fluid. The fluid pressure is maintained within the core sample for a predetermined soak period. The core sample is then rapidly depressurized to atmospheric pressure so that gas is very rapidly or dynamically evolved out of solution within the core sample and rapidly transports solid contaminant particles to the outer surface of the core sample where they may be removed.

  • Patent number: 4410043
Abstract: Recovery of oil in a subterranean oil-bearing formation comprising injecting a slug of an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble salt comprising sodium oxalate or sodium fluoride, injecting a slug of CO.sub.2 and injecting a driving fluid to displace the oil toward a production well for recovery. The water-soluble salt forms an insoluble precipitate with calcium ions in the formation and preserves more of the injected CO.sub.2 for oil displacement including preventing undesirable changes in formation permeability.
