  • Publication number: 20120268374
Abstract: A method and apparatus of detecting an input gesture command are disclosed. According to one example method of operation, a digital image may be obtained from a digital camera of a pre-defined controlled movement area. The method may also include comparing the digital image to a pre-stored background image previously obtained from the digital camera of the same pre-defined controlled movement area. The method may also include identifying one or more pixel differences between the digital image and the pre-stored background image and designating the digital image as having a detected input gesture command.

  • Patent number: 7359371
Abstract: A system includes a base unit, a plurality of connectors disposed in the base unit each operable to couple to a module, and each module operable to couple to at least one terminal unit. The system further includes a host processor residing in the base unit and coupled to a communications network, and a first high speed switch residing in the base unit having a plurality of ports coupled to the plurality of connectors and further coupled to the host processor.

  • Patent number: 7088261
Abstract: A traffic signal (310) having a reflector (322, 400) having a plurality of reflective surfaces (330, 402) directing incident ambient light received from the signal lens (318) to a photodetector (322). The reflector is disposed proximate and about a plurality of LEDs (324, 406) which are pulse width modulated by an integrated controller (360) to generate light which is also transmitted through the lens. The photodetector senses the incoming ambient light when the LEDs are in the “off” mode. Incident ambient light is focused by a lens to overfill the reflector and LEDs, and the photodetector is positioned within the redirected incident ambient light from the lens.

  • Patent number: 5553138
Abstract: In a telecommunication unit attached to a telephone line, power is provided by taking power from the telephone line when the unit is off-hook. When the unit remains on-hook, power is maintained to circuitry in the unit by a charge stored in a capacitor. When the capacitor's charge is reduced to a level no longer able to sustain operation of the unit, the unit is briefly taken off-hook, allowing the capacitor to recharge. Charge control of the capacitor is performed either by discrete circuitry or by a microcontroller, and further includes logic provisions preventing the unit from remaining off-hook for an unduly long period of time.

  • Patent number: 5367670
Abstract: A system manager for a computer system. The system manager transparently monitors signals transferred between computer system components along a system bus and stores objects related to the monitored signals in an object space. Information related to operating conditions within the system can then be provided from the object space. Later, the object space can be updated and the updated object space used to provide updated information regarding the operating conditions of the system.

  • Patent number: 5283905
Abstract: A power supply for a computer system manager, wherein the power supply has its own secondary power source operable when input power to the system manager no longer meets preset threshold values. The power supply functions in one of a discrete number of power modes depending upon the amount of energy available from either the computer input power or the secondary power source. The power supply switches to one of the group of power modes to conserve secondary power when the computer input power is no longer available. The power modes are controlled by a power mode controller which selectively directs power to discrete components of the system manager as a power conservation technique. The power mode controller always energizes the random access memory of the system manager in order to maintain data integrity.

  • Patent number: 5272382
Abstract: A power supply for a computer system manager, wherein the power supply has its own secondary power source operable when primary input power to the system manager no longer meets preset threshold values. The power supply monitors the primary input power as well as the secondary power source. Further, the power supply includes a regulating circuit which maintains the power emitted by the secondary power source to within a very narrowly defined voltage range. The power supply regulates the secondary power source while the secondary power source is being used by the computer system manager and while the primary input power is being used by the computer system manager. The power supply switches among power modes to conserve secondary power while the secondary power source provides power. The power supply includes a charger for the secondary power source.
