Abstract: Novel light diffusers that include both bulk and surface diffuser elements are provided. One embodiment includes diffusing elements forming a structured coating on a substantially clear substrate. Another embodiment includes a bulk diffuser with a structured surface. Methods for making and methods of using the light diffusers are also disclosed.

Abstract: An improved package comprising a self-venting mechanism that provides an indication of high temperature venting. The package includes a fin seal with an aperture positioned in the fin seal to act as a vent when the package and its contents are heated in a microwave oven. The pressure in the package is vented by allowing steam to escape through the aperture upon partial separation of the fin seal up to the aperture.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing software copy control. The disclosed systems and methods may include distributing an installation program. The installation program may be configured to extract identification information from a user processor designated to run an application program. The identification information may include one or more of a motherboard serial number associated with the user processor, a central processing unit serial number associated with the user processor, and a hard disk drive serial number associated with the user processor. Furthermore, the disclosed systems and methods may include receiving the identification information, receiving a request for the application program, and creating an identifier based on at least the received identification information. Moreover, the disclosed systems and methods may include transmitting the application program.

Abstract: A monochromator is provided which reduces the amount of stray light striking the detector of the monochromator. A light source is provided which directs light to a source mirror. The source mirror reflects light from the light source through a filter and an entrance slit, and to a first monochromator mirror. The first monochromator mirror collimates the light and reflects it to a diffractive surface. The diffractive surface separates the light into its individual wavelength components. The separated light is directed from the diffractive surface to a second monochromator mirror. The second monochromator mirror directs the light to an exit slit. The present invention reduces stray light to the diffractive surface by tilting the second monochromator mirror off axis at an angle to prevent the reflected light from striking the diffractive surface or directing light out of the plane of diffraction.

Abstract: A reclosable container is provided and consists of a push-in tab interconnected to a slide panel within a track formed in the metal top of the container. The push-in tab operates to tear a scored portion down into the top for exposing an opening whereby the slide panel can be moved over the opening to protect unused contents within the container.
