A power cable connects the trolling motor and the vertical travel assistance unit to provide power to the actuator of the vertical travel assistance unit, which permits the vertical travel assistance unit to raise or lower the trolling motor along a vertical axis and wherein the vertical travel assistance unit, having an actuator comprising an actuator shaft; motor shaft and the trolling motor shaft moves up and down when the actuator shaft moves up and down.
