    Abstract: A bone fixation device is provided with an elongate body having a longitudinal axis and having a flexible state and a rigid state, a plurality of grippers disposed at longitudinally spaced locations of the elongated body, a curved rigid hub connected to the elongated body, and an actuator operably connected to the grippers to deploy the grippers from a first shape to an expanded second shape. Methods of repairing a fracture of a bone are also disclosed. One such method comprising inserting a bone fixation device into an intramedullary space of the bone to place at least a portion of an elongate body of the fixation device in a flexible state on one side of the fracture and at least a portion of a curved rigid hub on another side of the fracture, and operating an actuator to deploy a plurality of grippers of the fixation device to engage an inner surface of the intramedullary space to anchor the fixation device to the bone.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for coupling data between communication devices in which data is transmitted over unoccupied radio channels. Multiple radio channels are monitored by a first communication device and a radio channel or a sequence of radio channels is assigned that is unoccupied. A message is then transmitted by the first communication device that includes the assigned radio channel or assigned sequence of radio channels. The first communication device then changes the radio channel to the assigned radio channel or the next channel in the assigned sequence of radio channels. The second communication device receives the transmission and also moves to the assigned radio channel or the next channel in the assigned sequence of radio channels. The process is repeated such that transmissions are over unoccupied radio channels. This results in both the first communication device and the second communication device “hopping” from channel to channel for communicating messages.

One of the signpost and tag is stationarily supported, and the other is mounted on a moveable item. Based on the signals received by the reader, the location of the item can determined with a high degree of accuracy.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for coupling data from a base station to a rover unit for determining the position of the rover unit. Multiple radio channels are monitored by the base station and a radio channel is assigned that is unoccupied. A RTK message is then transmitted by the base station that includes the assigned radio channel. The rover unit then monitors the assigned radio channel for the next RTK message. The assigned radio channel is periodically updated. Each following RTK message is transmitted over a previously assigned radio channel. This results in both the base station and the rover unit “hopping” from channel to channel for communicating the RTK message from the base station to the rover unit. The rover unit uses the received RTK message, along with signals from a position determination system, for determining position.

    Abstract: Apparatus for positioning a mirror to reflect solar radiation from the sun onto a remote receiver. Two wide angle, preferably cylindrical lenses are positioned through the mirror, parallel to the reflective face of the mirror, with their optical axes at ninety degrees respectively corresponding to elevation and azimuth. Multi-element photosensors are rigidly affixed behind the mirror so that images of the sun and the receiver can be focused on the sensors. The sensors extend a length equivalent to the field of view through the respective lens encompassing the sun and receiver during the daily and seasonal apparent path of the sun. A selected element of each photosensor is positioned along a line representing the normal to the mirror surface through its corresponding lens.

The projection screen display means includes a support substrate which has a plurality of phosphor areas disposed on the substrate with the phosphors areas including at least one primary color emissive organic phosphor composition. The primary color emissive organic phosphor area is optically registered via the projection optics to the corresponding primary color coded portion of the optical radiation pattern generated by the cathode ray tube means. The projection screen itself is thus emissive of the primary color visible radiation.
