    Abstract: The invention consists of a trackball (16) for a computer pointing device (10) with a layer of fabric (20, 50) hot-pressed onto the trackball (16). The trackball of the present invention cleans the internal parts of the computer pointing device, in particular the direction sensors (30, 32) of the device. The trackball (16) can be placed permanently in the computer pointing device (10) where it simultaneously cleans and actuates the direction sensors (30, 32) in the normal manner.
