  • Patent number: 5994321
Abstract: A series of guanine analogs and physiological salts thereof, which are useful as virus inhibitors and as antiviral agents in the treatment of viral disease, having the basic structures of: ##STR1## wherein B is H, CH.sub.3 or NH.sub.2 ; C is NH.sub.2 or SCH.sub.3 ; D is N or CH; E is O, S or Se; and G is selected from a group consisting of alkanes, alkenes, ethers, esters, hydrocarbons, amines and heterocyclic compounds, is herein disclosed. In I and III, A is O, S or Se while in II, A is NH.sub.2, OH, NHOH, OCH.sub.3 or SCH.sub.3. In I and II, F is 0, S or Se, while in III, F is F is 0, S, Se or NH. These compounds may be formulated with a physiological carrier, and used either alone or in combination with, for example, acyclovir or ganciclovir or another therapeutic agent, for the treatment of conditions resulting from viral infections.

  • Patent number: 5907036
Abstract: Novel procedures for obtaining ribo-C-nucleosides, including especially 2-.beta.-D-ribofuranosylthiazole-4-carboxylamide (tiazofirin) and 2-.beta.-D-ribofuranosylselenazole-4-carboxylamide (sylenazofurin) and synthesis intermediates thereof. The novel procedures involve introducing a cyano group at the 1' position of a ribose, directly or indirectly converting the cyano group to HN.dbd.C--OR.sub.1 or thicarboxylamide wherein R.sub.1 is a lower alkyl, forming the group which substituted for the cyano group into a heterocyclic ring containing an ester, and converting the ester into an amide.

  • Patent number: 4123524
Abstract: The compound 6-amino-4-methyl-8-(.beta.-D-ribofuranosyl)pyrrolo[4,3,2-de]pyrimido[4,5-c ]pyridazines-5'-phosphate (a nucleotide) as a new compound and its method of synthesis by phosphorylation of the known 6-amino-4-methyl-8-(.beta.-D-ribofuranosyl)pyrrolo[4,3,2-de]pyrimido[4,5-c ]pyridazine (a nucleoside). The 5'-phosphate ester has utility against L-1210 mouse leukemia and has superior solubility over the parent compound which gives it a broader use pattern relative to dosage. This novel nucleotide also shows advantage in utilization as to pH over, for example, the hydrochloride salt which gives in solution a pH of 4 and is too acid for use.
