    Abstract: Mixtures of zeolite A and zeolite X containing about 40 to 70 weight per cent of each species are found to exhibit a synergistic effect in the sequestering by ion exchange of calcium and magnesium ions in hard water. These zeolite mixtures can be advantageously used in detergent compositions as substitutes in part or in full for polyphosphate builders.
