  • Patent number: 4965100
Abstract: An article suitable for conditioning fabrics in a tumble dryer, comprising a combination of a substrate and a fabric-conditioning composition, the substrate comprising a porous material having a void volume of more than 90% and a cell count of more than 250 cells per cm, the fabric-conditioning composition comprising a fabric-softening material. The claimed article can spontaneously and consistently be adhered to the tumble dryer wall for one or more drying cycles. The moment at which the substrate no longer adheres to the tumble dryer wall coincides with the moment whereupon the amount of conditioning material which is released per drying cycle is insufficient to effect a satisfactory conditioning benefit.

  • Patent number: 4892555
Abstract: A method for conditioning fabrics comprises tumble-drying fabrics with a composition comprising a fabric conditioner, such as a cationic fabric softener, and a compound containing a transition metal ion, such as cobalt (II) and manganese (II) ions. The transition metal ion is capable of catalyzing bleaching of the fabrics when the fabrics are subsequently washed with a bleach containing detergent composition.

  • Patent number: 4706802
Abstract: A device for conditioning fabrics in a laundry dryer comprises a fabric conditioning agent in powder form in a container having a plurality of apertures through which the powdered fabric conditioning agent can pass, the container being provided with at least one outwardly projecting region which is effective to prevent or reduce direct contact between the said apertures and the fabrics, the projecting region also enabling the device to be stacked together with a second identical device in such a manner that the second device will close the said apertures. The device may be of general frustoconical configuration, resembling a disposable drinking cup with a perforated false bottom. To prevent misuse of the device as a cup, the upper part of the side wall may advantageously be apertured.

  • Patent number: 4532719
Abstract: A method for conditioning fabrics in the tumble-dryer comprises applying to the fabrics a fabric conditioner in fine free-flowing powder form and containing a substantial proportion of a water-soluble soap blend containing significant proportions of C.sub.12, C.sub.14, C.sub.16 and C.sub.18 soaps, preferably a blend of 45-85% tallow soap and 15-55% coconut soap. The powder is advantageously applied from a sprinkling device that moves freely among the fabrics.

  • Patent number: 4304762
Abstract: Effective stabilization of aqueous hydrogen peroxide solutions is achieved by the addition of a stabilizing phosphonate compound of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein n=1-4; and X=H or a water-soluble cation. The stabilizing phosphonate compound is particularly effective for use with alkaline hydrogen peroxide solutions.

  • Patent number: 4225452
Abstract: An improved bleaching and cleaning composition comprising a percompound and an organic activator therefor having at least one RCON<group in the molecule wherein RCO represents a carboxylic acyl radical, of which the peracid generation and bleaching performance are enhanced by the incorporation therein of a compound selected from the group having the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein n=1-4; and X=H or an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal or ammonium cation; ##STR2## wherein n=0-2; X=H or an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal or ammonium cationY=H, CH.sub.2 COOX or CH.sub.2 PO.sub.3 X.sub.2Z=H, CH.sub.2 COOX or CH.sub.2 PO.sub.3 X.sub.2(X=H or an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal or ammonium cation). ##STR3## wherein n=1-3; and X=H, an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium cation.
