    Abstract: An optically clear aqueous conditioning shampoo and a process for preparing the same. The composition according to the invention comprises the combination of an anionic base detergent selected from the group consisting of sodium lauryl sulfate, potassium lauryl sulfate, ammonium lauryl sulfate and a cationic surface active conditioning agent whereby the conditioning agent is combined with the anionic shampoo base in an amount sufficient to avoid incompatibility and precipitation of the cationic and anionic components.
