  • Patent number: 7394073
Abstract: An angle measurement system for an ion beam includes a flag defining first and second features, wherein the second feature has a variable spacing from the first feature, a mechanism to translate the flag along a translation path so that the flag intercepts at least a portion of the ion beam, and a sensing device to detect the ion beam for different flag positions along the translation path and produce a sensor signal in response to the detected ion beam. The sensor signal and corresponding positions of the flag are representative of a vertical beam angle of the ion beam in a vertical plane. The sensing device may include a mask and a mechanism to translate the mask in order to define a beam current sensor on a portion of an associated Faraday sensor.

  • Patent number: 6681828
Abstract: Method and apparatus for peeling a carrier web having a protective layer from a keeper sheet of image-bearing medium. The carrier web and the protective layer are peeled about a peel member as the keeper sheet moves over and is deformed by a constraining roller located at or downstream of the peel member putting the protective layer in tension. Preferably, at least one of the peel member or the constraining roller has a compliant material covering to facilitate separation of unused portions of the protective layer from edges of the keeper.

  • Patent number: 6000863
Abstract: A method for photographic processing of an exposed photosensitive film wherein a plurality of photographic processing elements comprising a carrier layer and a photographic processing layer containing photographic processing material are brought into contact, consecutively, with the exposed photosensitive film whereby a visible image is formed in the film. Each photographic processing element is initially brought into contact with the photosensitive film with the application of pressure and the processing element and the film are allowed to remain in contact with each other for a required period of time, during which at least one, and preferably a plurality of, additional pressure applications are carried out.

  • Patent number: 5848316
Abstract: A film leader extractor comprises, in accordance with a first embodiment of the invention, a structural stiffener component or member having a static-cling vinyl component or member laminated thereto by a suitable adhesive. When the extractor is inserted into, for example a 35 mm photographic film cartridge or canister, the static-cling vinyl layer is temporarily bonded to the film leader by electostatic attraction properties whereby the film leader is then able to be extracted or withdrawn from the film canister. In accordance with a second embodiment of the invention, a tab member is adhesively bonded to the film leader. The tab member is provided with an enlarged aperture to be engaged with a hook-type extractor implement.

  • Patent number: 5762753
Abstract: Method and apparatus for peeling a layer from a laminate utilizing a peel rod about which the layer is guided during peeling. The peel rod is continuously supported along its length by a bearing sleeve having a longitudinal passage receiving the rod and in turn supported in a holder. The bearing sleeve has a longitudinal opening in its wall communicating with its longitudinal passage, and the edge of the opening forms a continuous scraping edge for scraping debris from the rod. A cleaning pad of SCOTCH BRITE material extends radially through the bearing to engage the rod. The peeling rod and bearing are made of low friction material such as a ceramic, and the rod is preferably driven by a motor.

  • Patent number: 5601007
Abstract: An apparatus for forming a tab portion on a thin laminated sheet having work stations for scoring the sheet on a forward edge along a line to form the tab portion. The tabbing station includes a shuttle member having a pair of spaced rollers, one with a cutting edge and the other being a backing roller. The edge to be scored is passed between the rollers, such that the cutting roller as it traverses the length scores the sheet by a controlled amount which is determined by the preselected spacing between the cutting edge and the backing roller, whereby the unscored portion remains the same thickness regardless of the thickness variations of the sheet.

  • Patent number: 4831782
Abstract: An improved grinding apparatus includes a base (100) upon which a headstock (20) is mounted. A carriage (500) is movable along ways (101, 102) disposed on the base. A wheel slide (63) on the carriage rotatably support a grinding wheel (71). A first mounting plate (80) extends beneath a first footstock (400) and a first set of steadyrests (300) to a location adjacent to a headstock (20). While a workpiece is being ground, a second set of steadyrests (300) and a second footstock (400) are mounted on a second mounting plate (80). When the grinding operation has been completed, the first mounting plate is disconnected from the base (100) and removed from the grinding apparatus with the first set of steadyrests (300) and footstock (400). The second mounting plate (80) with the second set of steadyrests (300) and footstock (400) accurately positioned thereon are then inserted into the grinding apparatus.
