Patent number: 12264281Abstract: A self-healing cement structure may be used for repairing defects. An example method of using such a cement structure includes: providing a cement structure in a wellbore, wherein the cement structure includes: a cement and elastomer particles at 1% by weight of the cement (bwoc) to 25% bwoc; applying heat to the cement structure to heat at least a portion of the elastomer particles above a melting point of an elastomer of the elastomer particles to cause at least a portion of the elastomer to melt and infiltrate into a defect in the cement structure; and allowing the elastomer to cool below the melting point of the elastomer to yield a repaired cement structure.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2023Date of Patent: April 1, 2025Assignee: SAUDI ARABIAN OIL COMPANYInventors: Ashok Santra, Arthur Hale

Publication number: 20240401421Abstract: A method repairing lost circulation conditions during drilling operations, including deploying a deployment tool to a lost circulation zone, charging the deployment tool with eutectic metal alloy pellets, activating a heater to melt the pellets through the deployment tool and out of the crucible onto the targeted zone to form a patch, removing the deployment tool, and milling away excess cooled and cured eutectic metal alloy.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 31, 2023Publication date: December 5, 2024Applicants: Aramco Overseas Company UK Ltd, ARAMCO SERVICES COMPANYInventors: Graham Richard Hitchcock, Arthur Hale

Patent number: 10633219Abstract: A retractable cord reel houses contacts that connect autonomously when the user aligns the spool to lock it from retracting. The spool and housing contains high quality, sensitive contacts for high speed data and other critical signals that engage when indexed by the user. The design is flexible for adaptation to a variety of applications and scalable based on cable type and length as well as the number of contacts required. The contacts are engaged when the user allows an indexing dog to engage a spool indexing housing causing the dog to shift and force a mating lever to make the electrical connection. Decoupling occurs instantly when the spool is slightly rotated by the user. The user's only action throughout the process is to pull the cable. Without this intentional action of the user, the spool, rotates freely and the contacts are not engaged.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2017Date of Patent: April 28, 2020Inventors: John Arthur Hale, Phillip Andrew Hale

Patent number: 9051828Abstract: A system and method for producing bitumen or heavy oil from a clastic or carbonate reservoir. The mobility of the bitumen or heavy oil is increased by conductive heating to reduce the viscosity. The bitumen or heavy oil is heated to temperatures below the thermal cracking temperature of the bitumen or heavy oil. As the bitumen or heavy oil is produced, evolved gases or evaporated connate water or both form a gas chamber which acts to replace the volume of the produced fluid required for the gravity drainage process.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2011Date of Patent: June 9, 2015Assignee: Athabasca Oil Sands Corp.Inventors: Bryan Gould, Ian Atkinson, Bruce Roberts, Doug Beattie, Stephen D. Crane, Arthur Hale, Tarek Hamida, Neeraj Patel

Patent number: 8911026Abstract: A wheel assembly configured for attachment to a vehicle via a plurality of wheel studs or holes, the wheel assembly including a wheel defining a plurality of wheel openings therethrough, wherein each of the wheel openings has a non-circular shape and is configured to receive a wheel stud or bolt; and a plurality of variable lug inserts, wherein one of the variable lug inserts is within each of the openings and wherein each variable lug insert comprises a body having a longitudinal cross-sectional shape generally corresponding to the non-circular shape of the wheel opening and a variable lug insert opening extending through the body.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2011Date of Patent: December 16, 2014Inventors: Rick Pruden, Arthur Hale, Jr.

Patent number: 8757077Abstract: The disclosure provides a method and system of coupling end-to-end at least two existing mooring lines (12A, 12B) that are already deployed from the floating platform (56) to the seabed or other connecting structure to create a single shared line from the two lines. The shared lines then form a single looped line with both ends deployed to the subsea connections. The shared length provides enough payout of line to loosen one line sufficiently, while the other line becomes correspondingly tighter using the catenary length of the tight line. In part, the line can be loosened while the other is tightened because the lines are generally in the same overall direction to the seabed, such as in a same quadrant around the platform. Thus, the lines share their available lengths to provide the necessary payout for the repairs.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2010Date of Patent: June 24, 2014Assignee: Technip FranceInventors: David N. Edelson, Jim Wang, Andrew Buck, Peter Sharp, Timothy Arthur Hale

The bitumen or heavy oil is heated to temperatures below the thermal cracking temperature of the bitumen or heavy oil.
