  • Publication number: 20060049027
Abstract: A transfer switch comprising a housing and a strip of metal enclosed in the housing, each end extending through the housing as a first connection. At least one first contact is integral to the metal strip. At least one second contact within the housing extends through the housing wall for a second electrical connection. At least one first section of the metal strip for severing and at least one second section of the metal strip having the properties of a hinge for pivoting. At least one exothermic source in the proximity of the first section that upon ignition severs the metal strip at the first section, and causes at least one segment of the severed metal strip to be propelled about the second section comprising the hinge, whereupon the first electrical contact is propelled to join the second electrical contact.

  • Patent number: 4229656
Abstract: Precise orientation of an x-ray apparatus in which the x-ray tube and film cassette are mounted on opposite ends of a C-shaped arm is facilitated by a chair for the patient which is precisely movable along X and Y axes with the digital readout of adjusted positions. The angular rotation of the chair on its vertical support also has a digital readout. All of the readouts may be adjusted to zero at basic positions to facilitate adjustment. The angle of the C-arm is displayed by an inclinometer which also may be adjusted to zero at a basic position. The chair has an adjustable cradle for the head and the entire chair may be tilted to an acute angle to support unconscious or disabled patients without interfering supports. Orientation of the C-arm is also facilitated by a light source removably mounted over the film cassette, which designates the exit point of the x-ray on the patient.
