  • Patent number: 6640664
Abstract: The method includes providing a motor having a drive shaft mounting a pinion profile having an outside diameter and a mounting collar surrounding the shaft, the collar having an outside diameter less than the outside diameter of the gear. A gearbox wall formed with an opening having a generally ring-gear shape larger than the pinion and an inside diameter substantially the same as the outside diameter of the collar. The pinion is maneuvered through the opening and the collar is pressed into the motor-mounting opening. The invention is also the structure of the finished assembly including the opening.

  • Patent number: 6568685
Abstract: A fluid and/or gas treatment unit containing a dynamic rotating assembly for passage of a fluid and/or gas therethrough comprises a housing having a generally cylindrical body and end walls, and a generally cylindrical member rotatable in the chamber and having a peripheral wall and end surfaces. A shaft extends coaxially through coaxial apertures in the housing end walls, and through a coaxial passage in the rotatable member with which it is engaged to rotate as a unitary assembly. Adjacent the inner surface of each end wall of the housing are, seriatim, a resiliently deflectable biasing element, a generally circular wear plate and a resiliently compressible, generally circular sealing member between the wear plate and the cylindrical member and rotatable therewith. A generally circular bearing member extends about the generally circular sealing member and the cylindrical member and is rotatable therewith.

  • Patent number: 6568131
Abstract: A motorized shutter assembly includes a frame having a pair of parallel spaced frame members, louver slats extending between the frame members and having shafts extending into and pivotably seated in the frame members. A coupling is engaged with the louver slats to produce concurrent pivotal movement of the louver slats in either direction. An adapter on one of the frame members has a drive portion engaged with the end of a louver slat and is rotatable to effect pivotal movement of the slats in either direction. The adapter is engaged with a reversible drive motor assembly to effect rotation of said adapter and the adapter also desirably provides a clutch to protect the drive motor assembly.

  • Patent number: 6415686
Abstract: This power assembly has a housing with upper and lower housing portions and a frame of adjustable height in the housing. The housing mounts a worm gear in one of its portions, and the frame carries a worm on a fixed axis meshing with the worm gear. When the worm gear is changed for one of a different diameter, the frame carrying the worm may be raised or lowered to change the center distances so that the worm meshes with the new worm gear.

  • Patent number: 6360836
Abstract: For a baby stroller, an add-on assembly comprises a planar rectangular chassis pivotally attached to the stroller rear axle and carrying on its distal end a drive shaft with wheels. The chassis also mounts an electric motor having a spur gear engaging a ring gear in one of the wheels. At least one strut is connected at one end to the structure of the stroller well above the axle and at the other end to the rear of the chassis. The strut holds the chassis downward so that the drive wheels engage the pavement, supplanting the stroller rear wheels. Battery and controls for the motor are included.

  • Patent number: 5779171
Abstract: An anti-reversing mechanism for a reel comprises an overriding clutch within the drive gear of the reel, a sleeve rotatably mounted within the overriding clutch and a retainer for restricting axial movement of the sleeve to retain the sleeve within the clutch. A drive shaft is rotatably mounted in the reel and a locking member is mounted upon the periphery of and movable axially length of the drive shaft. The locking member and drive shaft include cooperating opposed flat surfaces for limiting rotation of the locking member relative to the drive shaft. The locking member and the sleeve have interengaging teeth to constrain the rotation of the locking member relative to the sleeve. In addition, there is a lever for moving the locking member axially along the drive shaft between a first position of disengagement with the sleeve and a second position of engagement with the sleeve.
