  • Patent number: 7507578
Abstract: A filtration based biological specimen collection and transfer device is provided. The filtration and transfer device comprises a tubular body with two axial ends, an annular flange disposed at one of the axial ends, and a biological specimen filter affixed to the outer surface of the annular flange. Preferably, the annular flange has disposed on its outer surface an annular ridge having a uniform height and forming a planar rim upon which the filter sits. Optionally, the annular flange comprises two mounting portions and the filter is bonded to each of those mounting portions. A method of collecting microscopic biological particles carried in a fluid is provided using the filtration and transfer device and a method of manufacturing the filtration and transfer device are also provided. A filtration based biological specimen collection and transfer system using the filtration and transfer device and a kit for use with filtration based biological specimen collection and transfer systems are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6390430
Abstract: A brush holder for engaging the body of a paint brush, keeping the bristles of the paint brush from being distorted while immersed in a container of paint or solvent. The paint brush holder includes a hollow, elongated, generally rectangular shell with projections for engaging and holding the paint brush disposed in the interior of the shell. The projections are inwardly directed, flexible, stepped and disposed in rows. • Patent number: 6173843
Abstract: A spring-biased latching mechanism eliminates the use of brackets and screws to retain expansion cards or electronic circuit boards in computers or similar information handling systems. The spring-biased latching mechanism has a latching member that is cammed out of the path of a computer expansion card as the card is inserted into the computer housing; the latching or retention member may be pushed to a fully retracted or withdrawn position and latched, thus removing the latching member from interference with the expansion card and permitting easy removal of the expansion card. The spring-biased latching member is provided with a groove to provide guidance to the expansion card during insertion and may stabilize the card whenever the latching member is extended to retain the expansion card in position relative to a computer motherboard.
