  • Publication number: 20080086501
Abstract: A computing architecture. In one embodiment, the computing architecture includes a kernel that contains data and instructions in one or more database tables. A first mechanism selectively executes instructions stored in the one or more database tables to instantiate one or more objects or wrappers to encapsulate one or more computing resources. In a more specific embodiment, the one or more database tables are verticalized and include one or more atomic fields. The first mechanism further includes a second mechanism for encapsulating the kernel within an object that provides a layer of abstraction between the kernel and the one or more objects, which are coupled thereto.

  • Publication number: 20060085275
Abstract: A system or method for facilitating online transactions is disclosed. Data redundancy and time consuming input activity can be reduced by maintaining merchant profiles and purchaser profiles that can be accessed in a multitude of transactions involving different parties across a variety of different jurisdictions. A data-centric approach can be used to store information instead of a transaction-centric approach. Sub-transaction processing units can be segmented and audited, as desired. The system can be configured to automatically influence transaction processing based on the nature of the products, purchaser profiles, merchant profiles, various rules associated with the jurisdiction(s) relevant to the transaction, and other information relating to the transaction. Different data objects can be used to segment information in a multiple-step process.

  • Patent number: 4177819
Abstract: The disclosure teaches an electronic apparatus for stimulating the muscles of a patient by disposing electrodes on the outer surface of the patient in the vicinity of the muscles. The stimulating wave consists of a composite signal comprising bursts of a sine wave, having a frequency greater than 500 Hz, and preferably in the range of 2000-3000 Hz, modulated by a signal at a frequency less than 500 Hz, and preferably in the range of 40-60 Hz. The bursts are applied for 2-20 second periods separated by 2-50 second rest intervals. The apparatus includes safety circuits which sense the current to the electrodes and turn off the stimulating waves on detection of a no load or overload condition. The apparatus also includes a power amplifier with a gain control and a switch associated with the gain control such that, if, at the beginning of any treatment, the gain control is not set to zero, stimulating waves will not be applied.
