  • Patent number: 12528727
Abstract: Integrated processes for the treatment of produced water, including for example treatment in connection with hydrocarbon production operations using bulk solid-liquid separation, organics removal, and desalination by osmotically assisted reverse osmosis (OARO) and/or vacuum membrane distillation (VMD). Various pretreatment technologies including without limitation pH adjustment, oxidant addition, particle removal, oxidant removal, followed by OARO and/or VMD, may be combined with a subsequent polishing process of the desalinated produced water such as to remove ammonia, boron, heavy metals, and/or organics. Water to be treated may be produced water that has been pumped from a subterranean reservoir. The treated water may be sent for beneficial reuse which includes without limitation different fit-for purpose applications including those outside oil and gas industry at a low cost.

  • Publication number: 20250197235
Abstract: The present disclosure provides various characteristics for treating tail brine extracted from a bromine plant, when said brine contains residual bromine and chlorine with low pH and high ORP values that will be used in a lithium extraction production facility. The method conditions the extracted tail brine by adding either sodium hydroxide or ammonium hydroxide to bring its pH levels to between 5.5 and 6.5. The conditioned tail brine then gets pre-treated with hydrazine in either less than 70 ppm if used in combination with sodium hydroxide; or 195 ppm if used with ammonium hydroxide until the ORP levels have reached to below 100 mV. The extracted tail brine is then processed through DLE processing device having four groups of adsorption columns filled with lithium adsorption resins that, after treating the extracted tail brine, discharges the raw eluate solution to an effluent tail brine tank using an effluent tail brine pump connected to the DLE processing device.

  • Publication number: 20250074785
Abstract: The present disclosure provides various characteristics of a method for the production of an ultra-pure zinc bromide and zinc chloride fluid blend in a reactor system, having reduced metal impurities for the use in battery electrolyte blends, by reacting chlorine with a mixture of zinc bromide and zinc. The method disclosed can be used in continuous flow or batch processing and uses a zinc bromide to aqueous solution as catalyst in a reaction with chlorine. Chlorine, whether in liquid or gas form, added into a reactor at a controlled rate reacts with bromide to generate bromine in a much faster rate that when the zinc bromide to aqueous solution would not be present. Any un-reacted zinc is then filtered out which will ultimately result in the ultra-pure zinc bromide and zinc chloride fluid blend.

  • Publication number: 20070225517
Abstract: Flame retardant formulations comprised of at least one bromine-containing polyol are produced by a process which comprises: A) heating a mixture formed from components comprised of (i) tetrabromophthalic anhydride, (ii) at least one aliphatic polyol, and (iii) at least one liquid straight chain aliphatic diester of a straight-chain alkane dicarboxylic acid to form an intermediate composition; and B) contacting all or a portion of the intermediate composition one or more times with (iv) at least one alkylene oxide that results in the formation of a liquid product formulation, and optionally, removing any excess alkylene oxide present; the amounts of (i), (ii), (iii), and (iv) used being proportioned to form a formulation having a bromine content of at least about 40 wt %, a viscosity at 25° C. of about 20,000 cps or less, and an acid number as determinable by aqueous sodium hydroxide titration and expressed in terms of potassium hydroxide, of less than about 1 milligram of KOH per gram of the formulation.

  • Publication number: 20050113495
Abstract: Provided are new flame retardants and liquid flame retardant additive compositions of low viscosity for use in flexible polyurethane foams. The new flame retardants are the reaction product of at least one brominated aromatic diester diol with at least one alcohol-reactive agent. Preferred liquid flame retardant additive compositions are capable of minimizing visible scorching of the foam during its production. Flexible flame retardant polyurethane foams and methods for their production are also provided. The flame retardant additive compositions are formed at least from a) at least one reaction product of a brominated aromatic diester diol and an alcohol-reactive agent; b) at least one hindered amine antioxidant; and c) at least one phenolic antioxidant in which the phenolic ring is substituted by an alkanoic acid alkyl ester group in which alkanoic acid moiety has in the range of 2 to about 4 carbon atoms and the alkyl group has in the range of about 6 to about 16 carbon atoms.
